Apparently my version of being a bougie ass bitch is eating vegetables, sampling cheese and walking around Eagle Rock with a matcha in my hand. 😂💅🏼 Wallflower will forever have my heart, but getting to try the seasonal tomato salad this time was such a treat. One of the things I appreciate most about what they do is how much they shop farmers markets and let what’s fresh and in season inspire the food. They really know how to take something as ordinary as a vegetable and make you wonder why the hell it tastes THAT good.

Then came Milkfarm, and this one was extra fun for me because one of my core memories from culinary school was a field trip we took to a cheese shop in Beverly Hills. I remember it so vividly, trying all these different cheeses, learning about them, and thinking it was the coolest thing ever. Basically, that was my first experience being a bougie ass bitch, and apparently I’ve been chasing that high ever since. 😂 I’ve always wanted to go back, but realistically, I’m never just casually making my way to Beverly Hills for some cheese. So finding Milkfarm right here in Eagle Rock felt like I finally got to have that experience again. And I have to give their customer service its flowers because they were AWESOME. They took their time with us, answered all my questions, let us sample whatever we were curious about, and really knew their stuff. If cheese and charcuterie are your thing, put this place on your list. Their sandwiches rotate depending on what’s available and in season, they have their grilled cheese every day, and judging by how busy they were people definitely know what’s up.

We finished our little field trip with a matcha from Lola’s, and just like that, a trip for pizza turned into one of the cutest afternoons. Moral of the story: if you’re gonna be a bougie ass bitch, at least shop small while you’re doing it. 💅🏼😂 #reels #explore #fyp #smallbusiness #yummy

Brunch at Lola Cafe in Eagle Rock. The menu leans Oaxacan with California brunch favorites, and the coffee is worth trying. We had the café de olla, a traditional Mexican coffee with cinnamon and piloncillo, along with a lavender latte. Both were excellent.

For brunch, we kept it simple with avocado toast, a salmon Benedict, and chilaquiles with egg, mole and sour cream. The café was busy when we visited, with both indoor and outdoor seating. You order at the counter, grab a table, and the food is brought out. Not inexpensive, but a good neighborhood spot if you’re in the area.
