Thanks to everyone who joined us for the launch of 'The Gleaning' by Fay Musselwhite at Shakespeare's in Sheffield last night. Over 60 in attendance (and more turned away at the door). Special thanks to Matthew Clegg, Naomi Frisby, Ray Hearne, Rob Hindle and Karl Hurst for lending their voices.

On stage: Karl Hurst, Naomi Frisby, Rob Hindle, Ray Hearne, Matthew Clegg. 3. Roughly two-thirds of the audience, pictured during the interval. 4. Applause. by @longbarrowpress

'I cannot read the sky, I cannot place the constellations, but I can grasp a pattern of disturbance. There is a trick, a feint, to face the dark field without staring into it, to stay focused without a focal point.'

The Perseid meteor shower is set to peak tonight, in the small hours, on the other side of the solar eclipse, the culmination of several weeks of activity, with a few more weeks to come. It's not so much an event as a process. Here's a piece written in the wake of the 2021 shower.
