Looking for green, pink, yellow and blue* 🌳🌸🌻🦋
Thursday 2nd July – Tuesday 1st September 2026

An exhibition at Bower Ashton Library of works observing flora, woodlands, wildlife, skies, marshes, and islands – artists’ books, printed poetry and ephemera. Whether you can be out in the landscape and the sun is shining near you, or you just need to see something lovely from indoors, we have a display of inspirational works by artists, writers and poets that can hopefully lift your spirits or give better insights into the layers and textures of the world surrounding us. From daily, observational pencil studies of individual flowers, to poetic works on landscape, to collaging green spaces into being or composing image, text and sound in relation to place, there are many ways we can find to enter these spaces.

Artists and writers in this exhibition include: Andrew Norris, Astra Papachristodoulou, Catherine Cronin, Cathey Webb, Chrystal Cherniwchan, Colin Sackett, Csilla Bíro, Elizabeth Willow, Gordon Yapp, George Gibson, Gracia Haby & Louise Jennison, Graeme Hobbs, Greg Thomas | Oo Press, Ioulia Akhmadeeva, Jane Hyslop, Jean McEwan, Jeff Rathermel, Julie Johnstone, Kurt Johannessen, Laura Crehuet Berman & Owen Bullock, Laurie Clark, Leonard McDermid, Lucy May Schofield, Marian Kilpatrick, Nancy Campbell, Nancy Gaffield & The Drift, Pirrip Press, Roelof Bakker, Sarah Nicholls, Stanley Miller, Stevie Ronnie & Tessa Bunney, Tracey Bush (not all pictured here). More info at: https://www.bookarts.uwe.ac.uk/lookingfor2026/

*Our exhibition title was inspired by the book ‘Looking for green, remaining hopeful’, by Gracia Haby & Louise Jennison. @gracialouise

Alongside making art, Gracia Haby & Louise Jennison run “Tiny but Wild, a licensed DEECA wildlife shelter based, like our studio, in our home in North Fitzroy, Melbourne / Naarm.” Find out more and donate to help them with their rescues at:

Very pleased to be adding The Gleaning, a new collection of poetry by Sheffield-based poet #faymusselwhite, to our dedicated longbarrowpress poetry section. The book is the second collection of hers published by Longbarrow, which is also based in Sheffield and has developed a strong reputation for quality independent local publishing and high production values #booksbooksbooks #ilovepoetry #sheffieldpoetry

What is going on here? 👀

A little voluntary swerve towards more community … 🤗

with the aim of helping poetry wheels within wheels in Sheffield be able to talk to each other more directly, I’m volunteering the Poetry Sub Club email list as a place to find out once a month what’s on in poetry in Sheffield. Ironic to advertise on socials as one of the aims is for people not on here to be in the loop.

So pass it on, will you? 🙏

Link in bio. Please submit listings by 12pm second Wed of the month (or if asked sooner by email).

Finally settling down for a listen to this beautifully absorbing placed, archival, sound-artistried, musical, observed, historical & momentary thing. Made from a 2 week residence at the Elizabeth Bishop House in Nova Scotia. I ‘read’ this last year, including the lists of ‘sounds’. But now getting to hear the poetry & recordings as a whole is a whole other ballgame. Bishop’s creeping around in the back of my head under Martin Heslop & Helen Tookey’s voices, bells and wind. The pump organ in the house carries it all. Thanks for publishing this @longbarrowpress #poetry #placewriting #fieldrecording #soundrecording #poetryrecording

A Happy Christmas receiving this booklet from Brian @longbarrowpress - thank you. 📚📖🎄🧑‍🎄 In it I find parts of my own mind, on moments of passing through poems in the world and connection. Looking forward to more from the collective in 2026. Sorry for dog-earring your careful creation! Also part of my process, I’m afraid! #poetry #poetrywalks #longbarrow #sheffield #poetrycommunity
