Wangou Taoxichuan IAC International Ceramic Residency Program

In 2026, the 52nd International Academy of Ceramics (IAC) Congress will be held in Jingdezhen, China. To unite global ceramic forces and deepen cultural exchanges between China and other countries in the field of ceramics, the IAC, as the initiator, has jointly launched a special residency program with Longquan Wangou Art Center. Leveraging the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage status of Longquan celadon and the professional residency infrastructure of Longquan Wangou, this project aims to create a cross-border creative exchange platform for IAC members, encouraging them to visit the heartland of Chinese ceramic culture, draw inspiration from local contexts, and produce outstanding works that blend international perspectives with deep local roots.

All creative outputs from the resident artists will be showcased collectively at the “IAC International Residency Exhibition” during the 2026 IAC Congress. This will elevate contemporary Longquan celadon creations onto the international stage, facilitating a comprehensive display and profound dialogue of global ceramic art achievements. by @longquanceramicresidency

"No man ever steps in the same river twice. But what about the rivers that flow through our veins, buried deep within our hearts?"

We are thrilled to present the solo exhibition of Yasmin Dubrau @yasmindubrau , created during her time with our Artist-in-Residence program and hosted right here at our gallery.

Hailing from New Zealand, Yasmin brought with her the memory of her homeland’s waters—echoing the proverb “Heretaunga Ararau” (Heretaunga of a hundred pathways). In the studios of Longquan, she allowed the spiritual currents of her roots to merge seamlessly with the thousand-year-old local ceramic traditions.

Stripping away superficial symbols, Yasmin has let the essence of water run wild and natural through the exhibition space. Her sculpted rocks, coated in milky mineral glazes, seem to breathe with life, giving a pair of expressive "eyes" to the mountain stones.
The lush, jade-green hues mimic the continuous ridges of Longquan's mountains, holding both the depth of ancient mineral craftsmanship and the passage of time.
The river of thought she constructed here will ripple across the seas, sparking new artistic inspirations on her journey ahead.

Come and immerse yourself in this dialogue between water, clay, and memory.

Exhibition Period
June 18, 2026 — July 18, 2026
📍 Venue
Wangou Yipie Space (望瓯艺瞥空间)

Artist in Residence Spotlight: Viviane Diehl

We are thrilled to share the incredible work of Viviane Diehl, @vivianediehlartista currently participating in the IAC @internationalacademyofceramics Special Residency Project in Longquan!

Rooted in the Guarani cultural view of the natural cosmos, Viviane’s work deeply explores the themes of fire, floods, and drought.
Through her powerful ceramic sculptures, she captures plant life devastated by environmental disasters, capturing the delicate, vital transition from carbonization to new growth.

By blending diverse techniques—such as slab building, coiling, and molding—she creates striking contrasts:
Black & White | Gloss & Matte — Evoking the eternal struggle between destruction and rebirth.

Color Gradations — Moving from deep blacks to brilliant greens, symbolizing the pursuit of light and hope amidst climate crises.

Her Vision in Longquan:
During her residency here, Viviane plans to merge Brazilian ceramics (inspired by Guarani pottery) with traditional Longquan celadon glazes to advance her powerful series, "After the Fire, After the Flood."
By experimenting with local clay and innovative celadon techniques, she will layer textures, slips, and glazes to depict burning, uprooted trees along riverbanks. Through this immersive, cross-cultural material research, her work seeks to reconnect us with the essence of earthly coexistence and freedom. by @longquanceramicresidency
