MOM-DAUGHTER SWEEP FOR THE WIN 🏆 🏃‍♀️ 💨

Still so over-the-moon PROUD of my girl for showing up, working hard and absolutely crushing the girls 14 and under podium! 💪🏼

Watching her crush her own running goals with the amount of grit she has is one of the coolest things to watch as a momma runner. 🥹

I didn’t have a goal going into this— but I knew it would be a tough day! 16 miles on the calendar today with a 4 mile race wedged in there. All completed after a week of harsh runs in FL, a full day of travel, and a sleepless night with a toddler who has an ear infection 🙃

My splits were: 6:33, 6:41, 6:33 and 7:07 (the incline gravel trail at the end ALWAYS gets me). I wound up taking 2nd overall and 1st overall female!

But the 16-mile workout isn’t actually finished yet. 😬

Right after the awards, we loaded up the kids and started a long out-of-state drive. That means my final 8 miles of the day have to happen tonight in a completely new city, in the hotel gym, right after I finally get all 4 kids to sleep. 😴💀

The sub 3:10 marathon engine isn’t going to build itself. It’s created by hard work, dedication and sacrifices. Unfortunately the grind doesn’t stop just because we have a busy day. We adjust and keep going forward!

Drop some massive love for my girl in the comments!!! 👇 ❤️

If I could go back in time and coach the old me training for my first marathon, these are the 6 mistakes I would never make again.

None of these changes made me faster over night, but with consistency, they completely changed the way I trained— which lead me to shaving over 2 hours off of my marathon time.

With every training cycle comes new knowledge and growth, but these are the things that will always stay with me.

Is there anything you would add to this list? Are you guilty of any of these mistakes?

If you had told 16-year-old me that I’d one day be chasing a sub-3:10 marathon, I would’ve laughed. 😅 When I first started running, I couldn’t even run five minutes without stopping. Literally. Every run felt impossible, and I wondered how anyone actually enjoyed it. But I kept showing up. Over the years, running became so much more than exercise. It became a place to grow, to challenge myself, and to prove that small, consistent steps really do pay off.

In 2020, I ran my first marathon in 5:32. Last year, I ran my second marathon in 3:15

And every mile of that journey happened while becoming a wife, raising four kids, and learning how to fit training into the beautiful chaos of motherhood. Now I’m training for the Wineglass Marathon with one goal:
🍷 Sub-3:10.

This page is where I’ll share the workouts, the long runs, the fueling, the race days, and the honest reality of chasing big goals while raising a family. Whether you’re training for your first mile or your fiftieth marathon, I’m so glad you’re here.

Let’s see what this next chapter brings. ❤️

Marathon running + chasing around 4 kids = EXHAUSTED by bedtime. 😴 😅

Between all the miles logged, the workouts, and the chaos of motherhood…recovery matters a LOT to me. Prioritizing sleep as a mom can be challenging, but it’s one area that I try really hard to stay consistent with.

Also the pillow I’ve been sleeping on is WAY too old and this upgrade was honestly necessary at this point 😅

Thank you @lagoonsleep for gifting me this pillow to try! I’m excited to make this a part of my nighttime routine, and everyone in the family is already fighting over it 😂

Things nobody tells you about life after running a marathon… 🫠

1️⃣ You spend MONTHS scheduling life around your mid week runs, workouts and weekly long run. And then SUDDENLY (because race day comes and goes so quickly) you have no idea what to do with yourself. Should we call this the post-marathon blues???

2️⃣ You FINALLY get to sleep in for the first time on a weekend. Then you look at the time and realize you normally would have already consumed a bazillion grams of carbs and logged 16+ miles…so then you feel a little unproductive.

3️⃣ Your house might be cleaner than it has in MONTHS because you finally have the extra time 😂

4️⃣ You can feel so incredibly proud of what you accomplished and still wonder “okay…what’s next?”

5️⃣ Although the 26.2 was the big goal, you realize that it wasn’t JUST the marathon that changed you. It’s the MONTHS of early wake ups, daily sacrifices, lots of doubts and tears, late night runs and showing up for yourself even when you didn’t want to that shaped you into the resilient runner that you have become.

6️⃣ Sometimes you do EVERYTHING right, put in the work, and show up on race day… and you still don’t get the time you trained for. And that one can HURT.

Because it wasn’t just 26.2 miles. It was the early mornings, the sacrifices, the workouts you didn’t want to do, and the goal you pictured in your head for months. And it’s OKAY to be frustrated, mad, sad and feel all the emotions. But please don’t let one race convince you that all your work was for nothing. ❤️ The fitness you’ve built still counts. Your worth as a runner is NOT determined by the number on the clock.

Wether you celebrated a PR, are grieving a missed goal, or are somewhere in between, this is your reminder that YOU BELONG ❤️

The marathon is a wild and crazy ride, and with every individual who passes the finish line is an untold story of perseverance, sacrifice and dedication.

Finally got around to making my Wineglass reel… 😅

My THIRD marathon. A shiny new PR. And a day I’ll never forget. Truly. 🥹❤️

5:32 → 3:15 → 3:08:41.

I spent months working toward this race, squeezing miles into life with four kids, running through the Virginia heat and humidity, and learning just how much I was capable of.

And then race day came. I had SO much anxiety leading up to this race because we all know that the marathon will ABSOLUTELY humble you.

I felt AMAZING for most of the race. Miles 21–22 started getting tough, mile 24 humbled me REAL QUICK, and those final miles became a battle of their own. My hamstrings started cramping at mile 16-18 ish, and the last few miles felt like they had gone through a cheese grater and were barely holding on by a thread 😅

But I kept going.

I crossed the finish line in 3:08:41. A new PR. A 2028 Boston qualifying time. And a moment I wish I could relive a thousand times. 🦄❤️

Sometimes I look back at that first 5:32 marathon and can’t believe how far I’ve come. Not because I suddenly became a different person, but because I kept showing up, kept learning, and kept believing there was more in me.

And this is only the beginning. 🥹

Wineglass, thank you for a race I’ll never forget. And the BIGGEST SHOUTOUT IN THE WHOLE WORLD to my running partner and friend @miles_and_movement ❤️ ever since I told her about my Boston goal a year and a half ago, she has been my BIGGEST support. I really don’t know if I could have done all of this without her 😭❤️ (I also owe her big time for getting all of these race day clips— I have not mastered the filming/running hard skill yet 😂)

@expntl_athletics outfit, @runnersvzn sunnies, @bombas socks and @nikerunning alpha flys to make race day possible 👏🏻

What’s a goal you’ve accomplished that once felt IMPOSSIBLE? 👇🏻

My first Saturday without a 16+ mile long run in MONTHS.

And I got to sleep until 10am 🤯

Usually, I’m DONE with my long run by then, but apparently all that marathon-training energy had to go somewhere…

So I cleaned my ENTIRE HOUSE. 😂

And then I encountered my opponent for the day. 💀🕷️And I am very much still traumatized. IT IS STILL SOMEWHERE IN MY HOUSE

Honestly, I miss running SO much. But if I’m going to be home for a bit, at least the house will be clean! (If I’m being honest a lot of the house stuff has been neglected since being in heavy marathon training 😅)

Runners, what do you even DO with yourself when you can’t run?! 😂👇🏻

I’ve gained a lot of new faces around here, so I figured it was time to do an introduction!

I’m a stay at home mom of 4, 3:08 marathoner, avid martial artist and small business owner, and most importantly, a follower of Jesus.

My life has definitely not gone the way I expected it would. There’s been a lot of dark times, uncertainty and fear. But through every tough lesson learned, I was being led to this WONDERFUL beautiful life I get to live now ❤️

I started my running journey not even being able to run a mile!!! And now I’m getting ready to start my build for the BOSTON MARATHON 😭💖 and it STILL doesn’t feel real!!

Thank you to all the people who have decided to follow me along my journey!! I wasn’t really sure what to expect when I started this Instagram a couple months ago, but I 100% was NOT expecting the amount of love and support I’ve gotten in such a short amount of time. THANK YOU ALL!!!

One of the biggest things I learned this marathon is to pace off the mile markers, NOT your watch!!!

My watch measured Wineglass as 26.44 miles…but the course was 26.2! Nearly a quarter mile of a difference, and it added up!!! 4 seconds per mile average!

GPS watches can be off due to signaling, cutting turns to wide/short, passing people, etc. So it’s best not to FULLY rely on them!

So when you’re out there racing, just be prepared for this ahead of time!!

Just a mom on a mission to run as fast as I can for as long as I can 💪🏼 I’ve learned SO much between my first and third marathon, and still have a LOT more to learn along the path of my biggest goals yet.

But the biggest thing? Consistency. Show up for yourself. The body achieves what the mind believes!

These are the biggest things that I focused on during my training block for the @wgmarathon. And while I believe that there is no “secret” and no “magic workout”, there are LEGITIMATE things that can help you become a better athlete. And they are simple!!

Fuel. Recover. Work hard. Consistency.

Fuel well to promote recovery and better performance.

Recover through nutrition, sleep, and easy/recovery runs.

Run your hard runs HARD. This is where the changes are made

Im still learning. I’m still making plenty of mistakes. But I’m definitely NOT done chasing big goals. Wearing @expntl_athletics always 👏🏻 rocking @runnersvzn sunnies 👏🏻

Drop your biggest running lesson 👇

I seriously cannot thank you all enough!!!

I’m still overwhelmed by the amount of love and support you all have sent my way. Just 2 months ago I created this little space on the internet to document my journey, find a little running community, and hopefully inspire some along the way.

I could not have imagined getting connect with SO MANY OF YOU in such a short amount of time.

The running community is simply the best.

Thank you for keeping me motivated and for seeing things in me that I couldn’t even see in myself a lot of the time. ❤️

And please know that I am absolutely rooting for all of you in all your goals and ambitions!! We can do HARD THINGS!!!

LOVE YOU ALL!!! Happy racing!!!
