Now on display at La Galleria inside Long Weekend: original work from Cuban street artist Fabián López, known throughout Havana as “2+2=5?” López built his reputation spray-painting the streets of Old Havana with his signature balaclava-clad character, Super Malo—a recurring figure inspired by hip-hop and comic book culture that’s become one of the most recognizable symbols of Cuban street art. His tagline, “2+2=5?,” is a direct nod to Orwell’s 1984, a quiet act of rebellion scrawled across the crumbling walls of the city, questioning the version of reality he’s told to accept. Walked through @longweekendbar in North Beach. This bar is stunning! It used to be a bank vault in the 1920s. Upstairs is a gorgeous two level Cuban-style bar, and downstairs feels like walking through the streets of Havana.

Housekeeping Entertainment brings the takeover Thursday, September 10th.

“Gnosis” — now on view and available at Long Weekend 🎨

This piece comes from Cuban street artist Fabián López, known for the masked, faceless figures he’s been painting across Havana’s walls for years — signed with his tag “2+2=5?”, a nod to the passage in Orwell’s 1984 where the Party forces people to accept that two plus two makes five. López has said the phrase is really about his own freedom to see things differently than he’s told to.

His work has traveled from the streets of Havana to galleries internationally, always carrying that same thread of quiet defiance.
