Now available to sit with, view and connect with at @yorkstreetyards

For the last year, we have built a team known now as Jess’s Angels to co-create this mural designed to memorialize our dear friend and angel @jessica_mcmillan_art . Together @iamrish.art , @emily__skywalker , @wheres_avi , @mcmillanrisa (Jess’s mum), Martha and I collaborated on a design using her colors, techniques and symbolism from her own paintings. Our dear friends Carrie, @lonik__ , @eth3real_artworks , @kevin__charlies and so many more in addition to her family all had their moments of shining their light, hearts and strokes on the wall. You wouldn’t believe how many people who painted this claimed to “not be artists”. Tapping into the ethereal life line that is Jess, everyone’s artist came out to play. I can honestly say, I’ve never honored anyone in this way before and the whole experience moved me to many tears, laughter and explosions of the heart.

I’ll share more about our process soon enough but for now, we honor the life of Jessica.

A radiant gift of love who’s last journal entry read: “my life is full of abundance, I appreciate every blessing no matter how small”

May this mural be a reminder that her time spent on this earth was nothing short of a small touch point but rather a huge ripple that we will always cherish and remember.

We love and miss you Jess!

I don’t want to post it because somehow that makes it real.
It’s hard to fight the anger. The anger I feel because we got robbed of our time with you. I feel lost and I know I am one among many.
Last week Jess and I celebrated our one year friendversary.
The first time we met was under some odd circumstances to say the least… Later that evening I went to hide out at the kava bar, and it appeared Jess had the same idea. We sat there and talked for hours and that’s where our bond bloomed.
My love for her was instant. I had never met anyone like her.
Jess was fearless, confident, strong, beautiful and absolutely hilarious without even trying. She never hesitated to pursue her passions. Her talents left me stunned on a regular basis. Her beauty turned heads. Her stories left me speechless. She loved unconditionally. She listened without judgement. She was fiercely independent. Her creativity inspired. She was boldly and unapologetically herself. She was a light like no other.
Jess refused to live inside the box that most stay trapped in their whole life. She changed how I looked at the world. Im so lucky you chose to exist in this space with me. We all are.
