For the last year, we have built a team known now as Jess’s Angels to co-create this mural designed to memorialize our dear friend and angel @jessica_mcmillan_art . Together @iamrish.art , @emily__skywalker , @wheres_avi , @mcmillanrisa (Jess’s mum), Martha and I collaborated on a design using her colors, techniques and symbolism from her own paintings. Our dear friends Carrie, @lonik__ , @eth3real_artworks , @kevin__charlies and so many more in addition to her family all had their moments of shining their light, hearts and strokes on the wall. You wouldn’t believe how many people who painted this claimed to “not be artists”. Tapping into the ethereal life line that is Jess, everyone’s artist came out to play. I can honestly say, I’ve never honored anyone in this way before and the whole experience moved me to many tears, laughter and explosions of the heart.

I’ll share more about our process soon enough but for now, we honor the life of Jessica.

A radiant gift of love who’s last journal entry read: “my life is full of abundance, I appreciate every blessing no matter how small”

May this mural be a reminder that her time spent on this earth was nothing short of a small touch point but rather a huge ripple that we will always cherish and remember.

We love and miss you Jess!

There’s really nothing you can say when you lose someone and while I’m not a mother yet, I truly believe one of the hardest losses to process is when a parent loses their child. We all want our children to outgrow us and when given the experience to process, all we can do is show up and nurture the hearts that have been broken.

We all feel broken from the loss of @jessica_mcmillan_art and last weekend really filled my cup to return to Denver despite accepting the fact that the last time I was there, we went camping together. It was a roller coaster of emotions to actually sit with the fact that you weren’t physically there with us but damn was it incredible to feel your spirit so fully with every step and breath we took. You came in the form of many rainbows, you sparkled your radiant light each night above the hot tub overlooking your beloved mountains and every outing was filled with your great memories…. Nothing is created nor destroyed and despite you being on the other side-the veil is thin and your spirit is greatly felt.

There’s not much to say when we lose the ones we love, what matters most is simply being here for each other. Holding space, listening, keeping the memories alive and finding gratitude in the gift that we all got to spend time together while earth side.

There’s nothing more important than connection. Filling the spaces in our hearts with deep love. Holding the ones we love closely and remembering the ones who have left because they are always with us in our hearts.

It is an honor to know you @jessica_mcmillan_art , always and forever.

I look forward to painting with you again and appreciate each sunset and sunrise that you paint for us until the great reunion.

Thank you for all that you taught us and continue to teach us.

Aho sweet sister, Namaste
