I spent a lovely afternoon in Coventry at the Coventry Inspiration Book Awards ceremony. I won the Hooked on Books (middle-grade) category. Children from a secondary school and a primary school presented me with my prize. I was also given artwork that some of the children had created.
I got to meet @neilsharpson who won the picture book award and @annalieseavery who won the YA category. John Moore and Farhana Islam won the other two categories but were not able to make the ceremony.

Being given an award that children have voted for is such a thrill! Their enthusiasm for Running My Own Race had me grinning like a Cheshire cat.

Big thank you to the children of Coventry who voted for the book and the Coventry SLS for organising the awards as well as the ceremony.

Went to see this play at Canada Water theatre with a friend and my eldest daughter. Absolutely loved it. Part of Theatre Peckham's Young, Gifted and Black 2026, Greener Pastures is a play by Nana Adjoa Baidoe-Ansah who also directed the production. Fantastic cast, strong writing and a great production. Congratulations to all involved 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿.

Went to see a production of Chewing Gum Dreams by Michaela Coel with my two daughters at the Theatre 503. What a fantastic performance by Lauryn Ajufo in this one woman show. Well worth going to see if you can.

It’s #BlackHistoryMonth and this year’s theme is ‘Honouring Our Communities,’ so we’re beginning things with this phenomenal book stack of recommended reading featuring some of our favourite authors of colour. ❤️ by @lookingup_ab
