Some may have heard of this, some lived it with us. But what we want everyone to know is we made it back, with a story to tell….

When we got selected to be a part of @atlas9.kc it was a dream come true. It was THE moment we had been building up to our whole careers. We had a studio set up, we had a CNC, we were absolutely and entirely winning at that moment. But, life has a way of knocking you down when you least expect it.

That day for us was April 16th, 2025. The day that our studio burnt down.

We lost everything, and we mean everything…

But, we did NOT give up.

We picked ourselves up, called out for help to our community and our community ANSWERED. It took the whole village and their family to bring us back from this, and thanks to @quixoticfusion and the team at @dimensional_innovations and so many of you, we made it back from the ashes. Against all odds, we rebuilt our project. Proving that you can make it through absolutely anything if you believe in yourself and your people.

On October 1st we will premiere a short clip from a documentary were working on that has the story of Haze Labs, the Fire, and how we made it to @atlas9.kc .

We’re excited to have Zac Hall and Adrian Stein of Haze Labs back at Atlas9 for our A9iversary Artists’ Panel + Q&A on October 1st.

They’re the creative minds behind some of the most surreal spaces in Atlas9, taking you from a black-and-white film noir alleyway to a mysterious study and into a crystal realm that feels like another world.

Come hear them talk about how those spaces came together, the ideas behind the work, and all the little details you might have missed along the way. Then, stick around for a live Q&A and a chance to chat with the artists in their rooms throughout Atlas9.

What does it mean to experience a hand-painted animation in a world flooded by AI?

Danaé Gosset's music video for Mac Miller’s “Rush Hour” transforms thousands of watercolor paintings into an immersive installation on The Canopy. Every brushstroke, every texture, and every small imperfection remains visible at a large scale, reminding us that this work was made by human hands.

As digital tools continue to reshape how images are made, Danaé's work offers something increasingly rare. She and her team of illustrators provide evidence of process, patience, and touch. It captures the emotional world of Mac Miller's music as much as the quiet beauty of human creation itself.

@hypereikon’s work is a love story unfolding in real time. Not only do María Constanza Lobos and Sebastián Rojas generate artworks straight out of the future, they are also lovers, musicians and chess rivals.

“We take breaks to play chess in the studio to navigate the micro-decision-making,” says Sebastián. “In the process of working, there is constant micromanagement of files, much like a game of chess.”

Since they met at school in 2018, these two have been exploring new media workflows that are on the very edge of what humans are even capable of, and in the process, they have created an ecosystem of digital works that feels like it could truly exist. Not here on this plane of existence, but perhaps if you tripped into a parallel plane of Planet Earth and wandered down to a forgotten creek or through your grandmother's garden. by @looneystein
