Big thank you to @jessiediggins for creating this awesome pre-recorded video earlier this winter for this weekend's Junior Qualifier & SuperTour athletes at Theodore Wirth!

The Loppet Junior Qualifier and SuperTour is a U.S. Ski & Snowboard sanctioned event where athletes ages 10 and up have the opportunity to compete at a high level under professional standards.

The U.S. Ski and Snowboard SuperTour presented by the National Nordic Foundation is recognized by FIS as the Continental Cup for the United States—the highest level of competition in the country. Top racers compete head-to-head in a variety of disciplines across the country, with World Cup start spots and funding on the line.

A Minnesota legend.

We can’t wait to watch @jessiediggins crush her final professional season. Jessie was a huge part of making the 2024 Stifel Loppet Cup come to Minneapolis and an even bigger inspiration to young skiers everywhere.

Today is Give to the Max Day in Minnesota - and it’s a big deal for us! Today is our largest day of giving, but we’re in need of help from beyond our state lines!

Last year you were essential in helping our small nonprofit in Minnesota pull off something that seemed impossible: In spite of a nearly snow-less winter, we hosted the first FIS Coop Cross Country World Cup race in the United States in 20 years!

You brought the energy, you made the community, you celebrated the outdoors and cheered on the best skiers in the world together with 30,000 friends. Did you know, the athletes voted Theodore Wirth Park as their favorite venue of the entire season?! Therefore, it’s no surprise that we’ve been asked by the press, fans, and athletes if we’ll host a FIS Coop cross country World Cup again. We’d be honored to host again, but The Loppet still needs to be here and thriving to do it again and that’s where we need your help. Your gift will create magic each season of the year through outdoor programming and events for participants of all ages and abilities.

Connection to the outdoors is happening here at The Loppet through cross country skiing, mountain biking, trail running, paddling, art, and sharing stories. We loved being the favorite stop on tour and we love that we get to be a place for outdoor connection to flourish daily.

We were excited to welcome Johannes Klaebo back to Theodore Wirth Park on Monday! 200+ athletes age 12-18, and some 40 coaches gathered at the Trailhead on Monday morning- to meet Johannes Klaebo for a morning of ski technique, games, and Q and A. Athletes were from ski clubs and high school teams from all over the state (most from the Metro). We put them in age-groups pods of approx 20 with Team Birkie Athletes like Zak Ketterson and Alayna Sonneyson, as well as the Team Birkie Collegiate Team members.

The LNR and Team Birkie coaches then ran 3 different athletic training stations that all the groups rotated thru, learning some new technical skills that pertain to xc skiing. Johannes Klaebo led the group warm up, including a massive game of Sharks and Minnows. Johannes also led one of the stations , teaching athletes the fine points of double poling using our SkiErgs.

After the athletic training portion of the morning, all the groups got back together on the Trailhead Patio, and Johannes Klaebo talked to the assembled athletes about his impressions of the Loppet Cup WC, and his experiences as a junior athlete.

We had a BLAST last Monday at Share Winter Playday! So many great community partners and friends came out to help us celebrate the end of a historic weekend. Let’s do it again sometime 😉❄️

We’ll probably be reminiscing on last weekend forever ❤️ The hard work that each athlete, volunteer, staff member, and event partner poured into this made the Stifel Loppet Cup unforgettable and indescribable. Oh, and the energy of tens of thousands of the world’s biggest cross-country ski fans!! Thank you for showing up and showing out in Minneapolis! Good luck to each athlete in the final period of the @fiscrosscountry World Cup ❄️
