🟩 Where the Hand Remembers – Laila Fadaoui × @myriemhimmichgallery Gallery

#EXHIBITION In “Where the Hand Remembers,” Laila Fadaoui, founder of the rug label @mrirt.ma, uses art as a medium to explore questions of origin, materiality, and conscious craftsmanship. Curated by Myriem Himmich, founder of the gallery of the same name, the exhibition focuses on the dialogue between Moroccan craftsmanship and contemporary art, as well as the shared commitment to carrying on this heritage.

Why design chairs when there are thousands of iconic ones out there?

For their article in Hochparterre magazine about chairs and why designers simply can’t let go of this furniture, the two editors Mirjam Rombach and Anna Raymann asked me to contribute a photographic piece.

With great pleasure in playful freedom, I plunged into a world of foam and balance in the studio and staged each chair photographically.

The project „Close Up“ is my photographic contribution to the @zurichdesignweeks .

In the exhibition @museumgestaltung I show analogue collages, which are assembled from a large number of individual photographs. In the first step, I was interested in the precise details of the industrial design objects given to me. In the second step I reassembled these single-shots into collages that express the object in an alienated and artistic way.

In order to make the production and design process comprehensible to the viewer, a documentation of the set-up in the photo studio accompanies the series of collages.
