Which objects shape designers along their journey? Which materials, forms, and surfaces reflect their creative approach — and where do the roots of their visual language lie?
Lorenz Cugini explores these questions in his long-term photographic project “PATCHES OF INSPIRATION.”

Delighted to be part of this exhibition at Baumuster-Centrale Zürich during Zurich Design Weeks, surrounded by an inspiring constellation of designers, artists and creatives.

For the Baroque church of St. Martin in Trun, we designed six chandeliers - each nearly three metres tall. Merging contemporary design with sacred space, the works respond to the ornate interior not through historical reference, but with a distinct, material-led presence.

Historically, churches commissioned some of the most ambitious and risk-taking works of art. But somewhere along the way, that spirit dulled. Many sacred spaces today are being repurposed into cinemas or supermarkets.

What if these spaces became places of cultural relevance again - not through nostalgia, but through contemporary craft and experimentation? This project is a small test - of material, memory, and what these spaces could become.
