As some may remember, moons ago I wrote a few songs (like I Am the Road with @eman.clark.9 and @markus_enochson) and released a handful spoken word/house music tracks (like Tongue Twisted with @djdoclink) with many handfuls of remixes. They’re still out there in the musical universe. Recently, I decided to do something new with my catalog, and signed up with @rerightmusic. Some of these old songs might have a new life. It is with great sorrow that I share about Virginia Lust’s passing. Nuit’s mom, Aja’s grandma - Virginia has welcomed me into her home and family for so long, I can’t even remember how many Christmases we’ve spent together; how many times we traversed the Hudson Valley; how many times she surprised me with a birthday cake and my favorite Italian pastries. Having lost my own mother so many years ago, it was comforting to know there was a wise woman to confide in and connect with. More than anything, I thought of Virginia as my friend. As artists we understood and encouraged each other, and I know we truly “saw” each other. It’s a rare thing. I will miss her very much. But as I had the blessed opportunity to tell her the last time we met, “artists never die” and she responded, “that’s right, we just skate around the sky.” So from now on, I’ll be looking for Virginia among the twinkling stars 🌟

The evening started out with torrential rain but that didn’t stop folks from coming to the opening party for the Economy Art exhibition at @studio6.nyc 🍭 I got to meet a few of my fellow artists like @artinlittleitaly @marcusglitteris @lunaversaldesignnyc @_lasercats and when @sheila.superstar found out I collect stickers she blessed me with some of hers (NGL I geeked on the @cost collaboration). It was super fun to make candy-themed art for this show about @economycandy (mine is the Mary Jane). The show will stay up until 8/23 so stop by if you’re in the LES. Studio 6 is located at 106 Rivington, NYC 👩‍🎨 🎨 🖼️
