I have a hero, and I call him Dad……
Happy 88th Birthday to one of the most important humans in my life. I feel so incredibly blessed to still have you here, not only as my Dad but as one of my very best friends. You have always been my strength, my supporter, my teacher, and the person I can count on no matter what. So much of who I am today is because of the lessons you taught me, the love you gave me, and the confidence you always encouraged me to have. 88 years young Dad and I’m still learning from you and we continue to make special memories together. Happy International Daughters Day and International Sons Day to my three amazing kids. To me it’s not just one day for each of them that I only celebrate. It’s a daily walk filled with pride, knowing that all three of them grew up to be genuinely really good humans. As a Momma Bear there really is no greater gift than watching your children grow into kind, caring, strong and loving adults. I’m proud of who they are, the lives they’ve built, and the love they give to the people around them. Through every stage of life, they will always be my kiddos and I will always be their biggest supporter. I am so incredibly proud to be their Momma. Happy Birthday to a very special son-in-law! Gee, that feels pretty darn good saying that for real. I feel so lucky to have you as part of our family. Watching you be such an amazing Dad is something I’m truly honoured to witness and be a part of. The love, patience, and care you give your little girl is so special. AND seeing the husband you are to our daughter means more to me than you’ll ever know. Jord, knowing she has someone who loves her, supports her, and stands beside her makes this Momma Bear’s heart very full. You’re not only a wonderful husband and Daddio, you’re just an all around super cool guy. I’m so very grateful that you are family and a very special friend. Have a wonderful day…. Another amazing week at Easter Seals Camp Winfield with Westin. This year looked a little different because of the heavy smoke, but watching the counsellors calmly change plans and the campers just roll with it was pretty incredible. AND, Westin, you rocked!!!! You were Mr Movie and Mr Music/Dance Guy this year!!! A HUGE thank you to the counsellors, programmers, nurses, cooks and cleaning crew who make this week so special. You are truly amazing. This year I also found myself thinking about all the parents and caregivers at drop-off. They arrive with clothes, toiletries, special pillows, blankets, stuffies and all those little things that bring comfort. For many, caregiving has been 24/7 since the day their baby was born. Camp gives their person independence, friendship and adventure, and gives caregivers a much deserved break. One thing I never take for granted is the trust Westin’s parents have placed in me to be the person who takes him to camp each year. I feel truly blessed. To be part of his life, to watch him grow, and to see the pure joy on his face as he takes on every adventure is a privilege I hold very close to my heart. taken in Easter Seal Camp Winfield by @lorihj

Spent the morning at beautiful Paul Lake cheering on Westin during his annual swim across the lake and back in support of Special Olympics. What an incredible accomplishment! Westin is such a strong, determined swimmer, and his smile says it all. You got to love his special style and signature moves. His joy, courage, and love of the water are contagious, and watching him do what he loves is truly inspiring. Way to go, Westie! You continue to make us all so proud. I’ve known this amazing “Recchi Bunch” since they were just little babes. What a gift it’s been to watch them grow into such kind, caring, and beautiful humans.
