Losehill sits in the Dark Peak, all gritstone, heather and moorland. But head a few minutes down the road to Castleton, and Cave Dale takes you somewhere quite different.

This narrow limestone valley winds up from the village, with Peveril Castle watching from above, before opening out onto the pale, drystone-walled fields of the White Peak.
