A printmaker and artist in Montana
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
I feel pretty strongly about this and lately it feels like there is just so much garbage on these apps.

I've already said my piece about how horrible as a technology AI is. Environmental, Political, Moral etc.

But if it's all you post, why are you here? I'm here to see what people are making. I want to see silly stuff. I want to see half finished projects. I like a behind the curtain view of other artists process and practices.

I don't care if you have bad grammar in the caption. I don't care if the studio is messy. I'm here for other people, but if it all becomes a bunch of AI posts then the reason for even looking at this app is gone.

So I'm just saying, post absolutely whatever you want. Who cares if it's "perfect". Fuck an algorithm. If you see posts made by people and you like it, hell yeah. I have a website but it's not really the same as a feed. I don't monetize the app, I don't care. If people are really interested they find my art.

I was really annoyed after seeing what feels like the millionth fake post being pushed to me. Just do whatever you want on here. It doesn't matter. The fake posts feel like someone trying to pass a test for making perfect posts. But who are you trying to impress? It's definitely not real people. So maybe just be imperfect and free. taken in Butte, Montana by @lost.ornithology

I feel very strongly about this so this one is for the grid.

AI doesn't just come from nowhere it has real environmental impacts. It requires massive data centers that consume large amounts of energy and water. They are often constructed in areas that harm communities and the environment. Look at the proposed centers that are in Montana. This technology is going to affect us here. Making our energy bills higher and making drought impacts even worse while destroying our water ways.

The data sets used to train image generation are stolen from human artists. AI cannot create on its own, it can only mimic work made by human artists whose work was most often taken without their permission to be used for this purpose.

AI is being used for mass surveillance, rapidly being added to military applications and is probably already in use in parking ticket camera systems in your community.

It is being used in deeply unethical ways and the negative impacts of this technology currently outweigh any small positive uses. If an AI chatbot is free, YOU are the product. Your data is being used and it is tracking everything you do. Its reading all our emails, it's being installed in our vehicles, it's being applied to all our existing infrastructure.

It's wildly unregulated, unethical and it's actively harmful.

Stop using it.

I will never support AI generated anything.

I also will not debate you on this. taken in Butte, Montana by @lost.ornithology

The closed captions are a little wonky but you get the idea. If you are on the fence I still have very few spots for Sunday. It should be fun. My bio has more information in it if you are interested. Or you can hit me up in a D M.

It's my first time having people in my studio so I'm excited to see how people like my space. I'm hanging up art and it feels like a place to make art more and more everyday. taken in Butte, Montana by @lost.ornithology

Two weeks is such a short time but it's such an important amount of time to get to work. I'm very happy with how things are looking for these first drafts. I have a lot of work ahead of me in my own studio when I get home.

I think I will invest in tweezers because manipulating the thread was going to give me a stroke. Big props to studio assistant Toto. Diamond was deeply unconcerned.

This is a very personal body of work so once I feel good about my writing I will share more. I'm exploring my own relationships with the past.

@chroma_print_residency has such a beautiful place to work in. I'm very grateful for this time. taken in Albuquerque, New Mexico by @lost.ornithology

I've been having a pretty good time at @chroma_print_residency working on this project. The first two blocks are carved and ready to print. Looking forward to seeing how they work when I assemble them together.

I've also eaten a significant amount of green Chile and went to the New Mexico State Fair which was great. Very thankful for such sweet hosts. @rocksurgeon is very knowledgeable and is fun to hang out with. taken in Albuquerque, New Mexico by @lost.ornithology

I have been having the best time getting settled in at @chroma_print_residency . I took a paper weaving workshop with @r.skye.t at the @newmexicohistorymuseum and got to see Palace Press and their collection. I went to @hechoamanoorg and the art work was spectacular. I visited @tamarindinstitute and attended the Rachel Perry artist talk. Everything is filled with chilies and is delicious.

I'm hard at work drawing blocks and I'm very grateful for this opportunity. My biggest goal with this time is to build the foundation for a solo show I am doing next year. I'm diverging wildly from my usual subject matter and it's been good to sit and think about it.

Thank you @chroma_print_residency for having me and it's been great to be here. Looking forward to the rest of my time here. Everyone has been so kind. taken in Albuquerque, New Mexico by @lost.ornithology

Update 4 of 8 spots filled.

Join me Sunday October 18 from 12pm to 4pm for a fun workshop at Pinion Printmaking, located at 304 N Main Street here in Butte. You can find a sign up link in my bio. Class will take place at @pinionprintmaking

Students will design and carve a block and learn to print a repeating pattern on a bandana by hand. You can reuse your block after the class and print on all kinds of fabric. This is a really fun and easy way to fabric print without doing a big silkscreen set up. All materials are included in the class. Class size is limited to 8 students. taken in Butte, Montana by @lost.ornithology

Hey y'all

Getting ready to go set up for @mooshfestofficial this weekend and I'm so excited. My assistant is sleeping on the job per usual. Good thing I don't pay her in money.

It should be an out of this world experience and I'm so excited to be there. Come visit Boulder Montana this weekend and have a great time. I heard it's the only show @ty_walker_and_the_humanoids have in our solar system this year so you don't want to miss it.

See you this weekend! taken in MooshFest by @lost.ornithology

Thank you for a fun weekend @redantspantsmusicfestival !

I had so much fun hanging out with the girls in my booth this year. We laughed, braved the crazy heat, and weathered multiple thunder storms. I couldn't have done it without @siimplybridgett_ @wildepots @maddymunson it was a scorcher out there. We tried so hard to blow the bubble ciggys to celebrate at the end and failed dramatically hahaha

I became an @s.g.goodman fan immediately, I love finding new music. I had a million fun conversations about my work and why people feel drawn to different animals. A few people shared with me how art they bought last year was given to friends and family and gifts, some even as far as Norway. Never think I don't want to know, I'm always so grateful and flattered people want to hang my work in their homes. I usually can't quite believe that so many of you do.

Looking forward to next year already! Hopefully it's not 95 out again 🤣 taken in Red Ants Pants Music Festival by @lost.ornithology

Had a blast at @redantspantsmusicfestival

Thank you for helping me out in this extremely hot weekend @siimplybridgett_ @wildepots @maddymunson
Having a great group of ladies in the booth made the weekend so much fun.

It's always fun to see old festival friends and to make new ones. I love hearing about why people choose the prints that they do and all the stories about why they feel connected to certain animals. It's why in person shows are always my favorite.

Goodbye dustiest show 🤣 you can find me cleaning everything with a hose in the yard for the next week. taken in Red Ants Pants Music Festival by @lost.ornithology
