Dard Bhari Baatein - live at the historic Clark Chateau museum @clarkchateau in Butte, Montana

Thanks @lost.ornithology @wilde_flower for showing me around the museum. If you’re in Butte you should definitely visit the museum. As a @dearbutte resident artist I had a rare opportunity to experience the mining history and vibrant arts community in Butte.

Day 6: Dear Butte Residency - Live audiovisual performance as a part of Hot Summer Nights series at Pissers Palace in Butte, Montana

I had so much fun bringing an audiovisual electronic performance to Butte, Montana. I played new songs from my upcoming album Incongruence and songs from my past EP Alag Sa Nasha. The response was great and I was also requested to do an encore at the end of the performance. The great thing about using Ableton Live on stage is that I can improvise and mix and match elements from different songs. Even I’m surprised when I hear new combinations and I was able to build a sound that was inspired by the nightlife in Brooklyn. Was wonderful meeting everyone in Butte, some amazing people!

Was exciting how the audiovisual performance came together during my time at the Dear Butte residency. I was able to set up a seamless configuration with minimal amount of gear and tech I brought in a carry on bag from New York.

With the help of @christy_hays @lindsayjords and @sydneygreenslade we set up a projection screen and sound for the show. We transformed Pissers Palace into an electronic nightclub.

Some great food freshly baked cornbread and chowder. Caught a beautiful rainbow outside Pissers Palace. Did a photoshoot with @lindsayjords who’s a talented photographer based out of Anaconda, MT

The fun part: wrapping up cables at the end of the show with @christy_hays with Hotel California playing in the background.

Was invited to @covellitetheatre a historic church that has been converted into a performance venue. Attended the after party which was so much fun! It’s inspiring to see so many amazing venues and support for arts in Butte.

Drove back and it started raining. I want to thank everyone who came for the performance, it was so nice!

Special thanks to all the Butte businesses and venues that supported the show by putting up the performance poster designed by @lost.ornithology - @wilderabbitpottery @parkstreetprinters @clarkchateau

@dearbutte Artist Residency Day 5:
Visited the Historic @clarkchateau museum in Uptown Butte which is a mansion built by copper magnate William A Clark. Its grand, opulent has some beautiful pianos and ballrooms. While it’s elegant it also shows the disparity between the lifestyle of the rich mine owners and the miners who lived on minimum wages.

I met Theresa at the museum who offered to display my performance poster at the museum. The poster was designed by @lost.ornithology (love the design!) and it was printed at Park Street Printers in Butte.

Displayed the posters all over town, @honey_puppy_art and @wilderabbitpottery pots displayed the poster at their store. Grateful!

I was able to visit the venue Pissers Palace and place posters there. Had a nice conversation with the venue manager, locals and the owner of the venue.

I drove 70 miles an hour on the expressway from Butte to a beautiful town called Anaconda where I got to watch wonderful songwriter @christy_hays perform live. Christy invited me for the dear butte residency and is the reason why I’m currently in Montana. Grateful!

Met some wonderful people and artists at the show. The sunset was pretty and then drove back!

Was wonderful working with @lost.ornithology on the poster design capturing a fusion of the world of my album and landmarks of Butte. It’s truly been an inspiring time for me here at Butte.

Can’t wait to see you for a night of live electronic music from my upcoming album Incongruence and some songs from my past EP Alag Sa Nasha. Will be a night with music I’ve created in India, New York and Montana!

Met some talented artists based out of Butte @lost.ornithology @honey_puppy_art @wildepots at @imaginebutte. Was inspiring to learn about the artist community in Butte.

Visited the The Granite Mountain Speculator Mine Memorial which was created in the memory of 168 miners who lost their lives in a tragic mine fire in 1917. Saw the large scale of copper mines in Butte.

Experimented with looping in the Kawai electric organ. Had a short burst of heavy rain today.

Slowly but surely we are moving in! It's the height of both our work schedules, but soon we will start moving presses. We can't wait to invite some print friends over to make stuff in the shop.

Friday Business Feature: Celebrating over 30 years, the Main Stope Gallery has been a fixture in Uptown Butte since its opening in 1995. The brainchild of Ray Campeau, the gallery has been in several locations in Uptown, but now calls 14 S Dakota Street home. We are grateful to have such a wonderful collection of artists in one spot. Check out their July guest artist, Bulbul Majumder, and the latest works of art from their 10 gallery members.

The future home of Pinion Printmaking, a printmaking studio in the heart of Uptown Butte.

Two months ago we, @lost.ornithology and @bigtimelivermore , started work on a new studio space. It will have an etching press, letterpress and silkscreen. We are also interested in collaboration with fellow printers and have a studio set aside for visiting artists.

A lot of time with friends has been spent repainting so it's not mauve, removing old carpets and cleaning up. Floors are being finished today 💪. Equipment will start moving into place as soon as the floor is done. It's been a lot of work and it looks so different from when we started already.

We are so excited to get printing!
