Confession: I haven’t seen any of the Alien movies, but this banger of a collection from @lostlakelacquer has it at the top of my list. The glitter! The thermal! The NAMES! This is the philosophical question posed by Alien: Earth, a show about the exploitation of deadly alien life forms, dying kids and deluded adults just trying to do their job. Inspired by the melange of organic and inorganic, When is a Machine not a Machine is a mix of neon yellow and green hex, black bar and matte glitters, and chameleon gold flake. Best worn as a topper or in 2-3 coats with a glitter top coat and peely base coat. Hangry Orchid Is it a plant? Is it an animal? Whatever it is, it’s coming for you! This thermal-solar polish is inspired by the terrifying new alien species introduced in Alien: Earth, D. Plumbicare aka “The Orchid”. She is best in two to three coats. Finish with a glitter top coat for a shiny and smooth finish. Weyland-Yutani Corporate Gray The true monster of ALIEN is the faceless, cold megacorporation that will gleefully sacrifice all human lives for a chance at capturing a dangerous new life form. Weyland-Yutani Gray is a neutral gray crelly with a pink shimmer. Best in 2-3 coats. In Space, No One Can Hear You…AWGRRKAKAK This is a beautiful green polish, very reminiscent of a certain reflecting pool, and inspired by the iconic green and black poster from ALIEN.  Fun fact: green is entirely absent in the movie. The designers thought the color would communicate space horror to potential audiences in 1979...and it worked. Just Listen to the Scientists This movie would have been over in 9 minutes if they had just listened to Ripley. Some things just don’t change, do they? [I was sent this polish for free to swatch, but was not paid for my photos and I’m under no obligation to post] I am a Black mother of a mixed race Black and Jewish child and I spend a lot of time thinking about all the ways this world could harm my child. I think every Black parent does. We do our best to prepare our children and ourselves. But nothing can prepare a parent for the death of a child. It is so against the rules of nature that a parent bury a child that the pain of it is often impossible to overcome. The pain I feel for Nolan Wells’ family is indescribable, but only a small fraction of the pain that his family feels at his loss. @lostlakelacquer made this beautiful polish to try to raise money for his family and the justice they seek and deserve.
