🔥🗡️ my most anticipated read of the year is here!!

i literally throw this series at everyone and anyone who is willing to read it, it’s my favorite romantasy series every and i have @storryskies to thank for introducing it to me ahhh.

it’s been such a good reading month already, i cannot wait to add this one to the lineup hehehe. it gets priority over the rest of my tbr if im being soo honest.

💐🌙 imagined Drew as Jamie the entire time I was reading, and it made all the banter, angst, and fluff that much better hehe

it made me think of when Drew played Zach in The Other Zoey, especially with the sarcastic bantering!!

had to break out my drew starkey magazine mini’s just for this! the dedication got me wanting to read the book, and I was genuinely hooked. Definitely give it a go if you like:

💐🌙 coffee tour of the Bay! (but mainly South Bay/Peninsula)

went home for a month!! this is my first time being home for more than a few days/for a weekend since i moved to LA County almost 2 years ago. So many new cafes opened in that time, so ofc i had to attempt to try them all.

shoutout to my Tita who was subjected to my constant flow of lattes 🫡

my ranking system has no logic. it’s honestly pretty much:
- did it taste like laffy taffy
- was it super strong or was it sweet?
- would i order it again?

if any of those were a yes, it was instantly ranked high.

i also realize now i probably shouldn’t used the word ratings instead of rankings… oopsies!

1. the borrowers by mary norton
movie: the secret world of arrietty

we started with this book, and at the end of the school year, it’s the book my students voted for me to keep in my lesson plans when writing their final persuasive essays. revising my lesson plans for next year, i think this book should be the 2nd or 3rd read instead of the first based on its length and complexity.

2. howl’s moving castle by dianne wynne jones
movie of the same name

my students loved this one since they already watched the movie, so they were able to point out the differences right off the bat.

since they already saw the movie, it made some assignments confusing for them since they kept referencing scenes from the movie thinking they also happened in the book.

i enjoyed that the two medias were also different enough that they almost felt like different stories.

3. kiki’s delivery service by eileen kadono
with movie of the same name

I think this book should be our first novel of the year moving forward since it has an easier plot to follow and can be great when introducing plot diagrams/charts with how each chapter has a complication and resolution.

though, i think the students appreciated having a shorter, easier read to end the school year with.

🌙💐 when they are “Princess” + Knight,
but in reality, they are just actually the court herbalist the 2nd prince is in love with, and the royal knight he entrusted with guarding her.

obi gives the BEST second male lead angst because the yearning burns so good, AND the fact that he’s the one traveling with shirayuki adds to the feeling of yearning watching her take so good care of her for zen and her himself.

however, zen is still an amazing male lead/partner for shirayuki.

watching all of their dynamics together squeezing all the right heart strings because of the trust and respect each person has for the other.

i just need them to introduce an equally as amazing character to be paired for obi.

🌙💐 when i first started reading #hittingrewindwithyou, i thought the premise was kindaaa weird.

the two college characters dress up in their high school uniform while going out places together because the FL (and the ML, honestly) wants to relive the romantic moments they didn’t get while in high school. she wants to be able to do all the cliche and cheesy things.

when i first started reading volume 1, that aspect of it felt a little weird to me. however, i kept reading on anyways, and started to think about how cute the characters are with their dynamic.

though, i still like their moments out of uniform the best.

volume 3 was super cute, with some full circle moments happening for the characters. i loved seeing the FL’s dynamic with her family, as well.
