📚 happy AAPI heritage month!

I am endlessly proud of where I come from. Being a Filipina married to a Hawaiian/Chinese man, this month is a beautiful reminder of how our cultures are woven & live in the stories we read, the food we share, & the music that fills our home.

i get absolutely giddy when i spot an Anne book on the shelves. 🙂‍↕️

with countless reprintings wrapped in lovely covers, there is such a joy in collecting them! as of now, i have all but number 3 & 7 in the Anne of Green Gables Bantam Seal Book collection (1980’s). then, a couple months ago i found a 1967 edition of Anne of Green Gables (hardcover & printed by a press that no longer exists!)👒

Sunrise on the Reaping! There’s no competition right now. So many books have brought me to tears, but this takes the cake 😭😭

The Rom-Commers, this is also a current read of mine that I’m LOVING and the cover is just so gorgeous 😍😍

💐Flourish(a book which exceeded expectations)
Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine. I read this book a couple of years ago and even though it got a lot of hype, I didn’t expect to love it as much as I did and still be thinking about it years later

🐝Buzz(a book that had all the hype)
Throne of Glass. This is kind of cheating because I’m currently reading this with a book club (the slowest moving book club ever 😂) but I’m loving it and so far it’s living up to the hype

🌷petals (a book with a floral cover): A Sign of Affection by Suu Morishita has stunning floral covers featuring the main characters on each volume. my favourite floral depiction is volume 1! (i feel like i always mention ASOA when i do tags but it’s just such a wonderful story.🥹)

🌱 flourish (a book that exceeded expectations): What You Are Looking For is in the Library by Michiko Aoyama was my first read after returning from Korea; it put life into such a kaleidoscopic perspective of self-love and reflection.💚

🐝 a buzz (a book that had all the hype): so this is more of a personal hype! my imprint published Mina’s Matchbox by Yōko Ogawa and that is SO high on my list for the praise of her preceding work, The Memory Police. (which i also hope to read soon!)🦋

🧺 picnic (a lighthearted book perfect for this season): i’ve been DYING to dip into Emily Wilde’s magical world with Encyclopedia of Faeries, so i feel that would be so fitting for this turn of season!🧚🏻

First of all thank you @lostmypages for telling your Aunt to get this for me bc I LOVED IT 🤩

Everyone knows I am a sucker for all things hockey romance and i had read the other two in the Maple Hills series and really liked them but Henry and Halle were on a different level

I ADORED them so much! The autism and ADHD representation, the thoughtful communication between them, Halle and her eldest daughter struggles, and of course all the amazing romance moments 😍😍

This book had everything and more and if you haven’t picked it up, what are you doing??

𝙗𝙤𝙤𝙠 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚 𝙪𝙥𝙙𝙖𝙩𝙚 🌷

hello friends! i hope everyone’s doing well and january’s treating you good. here are little updates on what i’ve been up to recently:

🦢 stayed three more days at the province. i was supposed to leave on a thursday, but my uncle, aunt, and cousins wouldn’t let me go just yet. and honestly, there’s something about love—it always finds a way to make you stay a little longer. i’m so glad i gave in because those extra days were worth it.
🎠 went on a much-awaited trip with my friends! we finally went to the amusement park we’d been planning to go to since november and also stopped by my second hometown. honestly, this detour sent me into a spiral. going back to a place as a changed and different person is a surreal experience. as we drove down its streets that i’ve come to know so well for years, i conjured memories in different places I hadn’t thought about in years. i’ve said this before and i’ll say it again—nostalgia will be the death of me. it dawned on me how much i’ve grown, yet somehow, this place has remained the same to me. i felt like a kid again.
🩰 finally lost myself in a good ktrauma—oh sorry, i meant kdrama. i’ve been searching for a feel-good show to devour during my break and ended up watching something on a whim. before i knew it, i was on episode two, laughing my face off. have you guys heard of mr. plankton? the chemistry and plot are everything, and don’t even get me started on woo do hwan! 😂 i’m currently on the last episode, and i can feel the waterworks creeping up on me. this one’s going to stick with me for a while.
🫀 finished ‘foul heart huntsman’ by chloe gong. it’s the end of the duology and reminded me a lot of katniss and peeta in the mockingjay. the author wrapped it up so well and i would definitely reread it soon!
📝 stressed about uni lol—what else is new? 😆 my hellish second semester is coming up, and i can’t shake the feeling of impending doom, like things are just bound to go south. wish me luck, because i’m going to need all of it.

a book/game with luscious scenery: every a sign of affection (by suu morishita) volume, ESPECIALLY the volume with the wisteria panel because it’s absolutely gorgeous. 💕

food in a book/game i’ve always wanted to try: i would love to be sat in the great hall (at the hufflepuff table) and enjoying a bit of just everything in sight.⚡️
