Who better to start with than the amazing Lottie Saahko?

Lottie is already a successful author and TV presenter in Finland and we are very proud to represent her and her debut novel, Lumi and the Wolf.

She writes and illustrates young and middle grade fiction, non-fiction and picture books and focuses on themes of neurodivergence, multicultural childhoods, identity, dementia and nature.

I got my contract today so now I can finally tell you… I have a book deal! My first English language book will be published by a Big 5 publisher! 😭❤️
I couldn’t be happier. Despite having published 10 books in 🇫🇮 , I’m considered a debut writer here and had to start from scratch. Well, it was worth it!

Lumi on Tour 🌎 I can’t wait to meet aaaaall the kids in Bristol and in the North! Most of these events will be Forest Diary nature journalling workshops and I’m excited to talk about nature and animals with lots of fabulous children (and adults — adults are welcome too!). Thank you so much to all the fabulous bookshops who will be hosting me over the next few weeks!

For bookshops, I offer Forest Diary workshops, where readers can try nature journalling like Lumi. I bring the forest into the bookshop, talk about the importance of research for authors, show them my own Forest Diary and encourage them to connect with nature too. I also read from my book ‘Lumi and the Wolf’ while the attendees draw. Because it’s a very hands-on workshop, there isn’t really an age limit. I’ve had attendees from 6-year-olds to 80-year-olds!
Of course, I can also do more traditional author talks, where I show video clips from my research trips and discuss how I came up with the story. Booksellers, please get in touch if this sounds like something you’d like to do in your bookshop! I bring all the necessary epquipment so you just need to have a space and preferably sell my books! 😊 #lumiandthewolf #bookshop #bookshopsuk by @lottiesaahko

@arcanjoe's review of Lumi and the Wolf. What beautiful wording! ❄️ I've loved Joel's Crookhaven books and can't wait to read Beast Mode next.
Joel has a multicultural background too, so I'm really glad Lumi's story resonated with him. Thank you, Joel!

A dream come true! 🤩 after 6 years in publishing and 14 books, this is the first time I saw my book in a window! 🤩 In Finland publishing works very differently and the publishers pay for a book to be put on a table or in a window. I love that in the UK, booksellers are allowed to decide which books they want to support by giving them a good spot in their shop. 💙🐺❄️
Thank you @waterstoneschiswick for making my dream come true!

@rashmiwriting's review of Lumi and the Wolf. The full review is on the second slide 🐺❄️
I really admire Rashmi's career. She writes about her cultural heritage and neurodivergence, which gives children a chance to see themselves represented in her books. That's the same goal I have formy books. She's also a prolific writer, with soooo many books in different genres under her belt. Thank you, Rashmi!

It’s been a wild two weeks since Lumi and the Wolf was published, and I haven’t even had the chance to post any of my book launch pictures yet! Here are some of the incredible people who came to celebrate me. Like I said in my speech, my family moved often when I was growing up, and I never had many friends because of it. So seeing all these wonderful people whom I admire so much turn up for me was just mind-blowing! There are many more whose attendance made me so happy but I don’t have any photos of. Thank you so much for coming. It meant the world to me. 💙❄️

Last night I had the honour of attending the horrendous (ly fun) launch of “Jekyll vs Hyde: The Potion of Doom” by @jmeggittphillips. 🧪 Goodness, what a night! I honestly feel so honoured to be part of this community of brilliant children’s authors now. And honoured to call Jack my friend 💚 (sorry Jack, I know you’re not a fan of emotions)

I read the book this summer and adored it so much I’m now listening to the audiobook – which everyone should do, since Jack narrates it himself! Goodness, this man is quite the multitalent! I’ve never heard a cackle as devious as his… And nobody else can make seemingly mundane scenes as laugh-out-loud funny as Jack! I truly admire him!

In the story, spoiled young Henrik Jekyll has been left his ancestor Dr Jekyll’s house, laboratory, and - most importantly - the secret Hyde Potion recipe. Henrik’s curiosity soon leads him down a dark path, unleashing a chaotic alter – his HYDE. 😈

Jack is currently touring the country with the book and it seems to be a triumph. I’m looking forward to the day I get to attend one of his talks or sessions. And I’m already hugely excited for book 2. Well done, Jack!

PS: Also thanks for giving me a good reason to get out my sewing machine. I love a theme party!💚🖤
