Hny all. Here’s a little painting called ‘Diving for Hearts’

The title is thanks to ‘The Sea’, an album close to my heart.

Ornaments turned heirlooms

Ink on paper, a3

Making monotypes is quite addictive. I made a couple dozen (perhaps quite manically) over a weekend and really enjoyed the lack of control. You make them by rolling ink, laying paper on top and drawing on the back of the paper, so you don’t know what they look like until you take the plunge and pull the paper back. They kind of tell you what they want to be- especially when you’re a rookie by @loveday_art

Nostalgia is a word that’s been coming up when I think about the stuff I’ve been making. I just looked it up and found it comes from ‘nostos’ (homecoming) and ‘algos’ (pain). The pain in yearning for home? The pain in finding home in our memories?

I Would Like to Call it Beauty
like all the ghosts of time gone by
yet certain slants of light
I Would Like to Call it Beauty
like flowers blinking teary eyes
and reaching for the sun

This piece is currently called ‘Odditorium’, but also, ‘I Would like to Call it Beauty’ by @loveday_art
