INVEST IN YOUR HEALING BEFORE MARRIAGE.

We spend so much time preparing our outward appearance for marriage.

We get our bodies together. We get our hair together. We buy the clothes. We go to the places where we think the high-value men are.

And the whole time we’re praying, “God, send me my husband. Lord, send me my husband!”

But here’s my question: What are you doing to prepare your heart?

Because the Bible says man looks at the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart (1 Samuel 16:7).

And 1 Peter 3:3–4 tells us that what is precious in God’s sight isn’t our outward adornment, but the hidden person of the heart—a gentle and quiet spirit.

But how do we cultivate that spirit when we’re still carrying wounds from our parents, our ex-boyfriends, our friendships, and even the church?

We’ve invested in everything except the healing process.

And I’ve had women tell me, “I’m just not sure if investing in my healing is the right investment for me right now.”

But here’s what I want you to consider:

You’re willing to invest in everything that might attract a husband, but you’re questioning the investment that could help you build a healthy marriage.

Sis, getting married doesn’t automatically heal what happened before marriage.

And your husband should not have to become your healer.

You don’t have to be completely healed to get married, but you should be willing to confront what is unhealed before you do.

Don’t just prepare to get married. Prepare for the marriage.

Invest in your healing before marriage.

There’s so much I can say about this but for now, I want you to get on this healing station the Holy Ghost has us on… because Kingdom marriages are on the rise, but some of that is participation from YOU to get your heart ready for that calling.

There is a reason why you're not attracting the right partner, why you're staying longer than you should, why you can't seem to stop things you KNOW aren't of God…

Okay, real talk… 👀

@ardrancarr said something in this clip that stopped me: a lot of men are choosing “easier” over “better.”

It got me thinking. When that happens, a lot of women feel pressure to become “easier” too. They ask for less, overlook more, and shrink a little just to be chosen.

But what if the answer isn’t women lowering the bar? What if it’s men healing enough to reach it?

Let’s debunk TWO lies at one time.

LIE #1: If you actually find a man who is abstaining, he’s probably corny, weird, or unattractive.

Please. 😂

Abstaining men can be HELLA sexy.

They’re attractive. They’re athletes. They’re intelligent. They’re successful. They’re well-groomed. They have swag, rizz, whatever y’all call it these days.

In fact, the majority of the men in my research did NOT fit the false stereotype at all.

And I can definitely attest to this with my own husband. 😂 The initial unattraction lasted a couple of HOURS. I spent the next couple of YEARS trying to keep my hands off that man.

Very. Sexy. 😂

LIE #2: “Okay, but what if we wait and then the sex is bad?”

We need to kill this lie, too.

Now, let me be honest: there can absolutely be a getting-to-know-you period sexually after marriage. Great sex doesn’t necessarily happen automatically just because you waited.

You learn each other.
You communicate.
You explore.

And something I heard repeatedly in my research? Sex got better over time.

But here’s what I REALLY think Christian women may be sleeping on:

SELF-CONTROL IS SEXY.

It’s literally fruit of the Spirit. (Galatians 5:22–23)

A man who has learned to exercise sexual self-control before marriage is demonstrating a fruit that doesn’t automatically come down from heaven once you say I do. They’ve already have it!

You WANT self-control in your marriage.

Self-control with other women.
Self-control around sexually explicit content.
Self-control over his own sexual appetites.

“You will know them by their fruits.” — Matthew 7:16

And that self-control can be BEAUTIFUL for the marriage bed.

Tiring. 😂
But beautiful. 👀😂

So please stop believing the lie that choosing a man committed to sexual obedience means sacrificing attraction OR the possibility of a satisfying sex life.

God does not need you to abandon His standard in order to experience attraction, chemistry, or a satisfying marriage bed.

Stop taking relationship advice from spiritually immature men who haven’t developed the very fruit you’re praying to see in a husband.

Discipline is attractive. Self-control is attrac by @lovedoctorem
