UMOJA CHURCH invites the community to join us for an important conversation on Black Church and Queer Inclusion.

On Wednesday, September 9th at 6:30 p.m., we will gather for a special screening and discussion centered on what it means for Black faith communities to move beyond welcome and toward full affirmation, belonging, and inclusion.

Our faith calls us to love God and love our neighbor. That means creating churches where queer and trans kindred do not have to choose between their faith, their Blackness, and their full identity.

Greensboro, we’re calling the Black women of our city to gather with us this Sunday at UMOJA Church.

Our Women’s History Month theme is “When Black Women Rise, Justice Follows.” At UMOJA, we take seriously the leadership, wisdom, and spiritual contributions of Black women in ministry. Grounded in the spirit of Womanist theology, we believe the voices and visions of Black women are essential to the life of the church and the future of our communities.

Join us as we welcome Rev. Lové Lemon and create space for worship, fellowship, and visioning together.

- Black queer people have been here, Black queer people are still here and Black queer people … well, we’re not going anywhere, despite the efforts of all those, including the ones who use the Word of God (who is love), to separate us from the light that exist within us. Despite the efforts of those who are trying to force us to live out the teaching of chattel enslavement, attempting to discourage us from the exploration of our sexuality and our Black bodies… We Object 🗣️
- Know that we have ALWAYS been Black AND … know that to exist honoring our intersectionality, like Black, it is BEAUTIFUL! Know that love is love and it is that which drives out this wicked hate in this place we call the world.

I still know EXACTLY where the trash go •

- I will continue to do the work God has called and chosen me to do. God said, “trash it my child”, and so I did …to the trash it goes lol.
- On a serious note though, I will not stand idly by as ignorant people in this world continue to send violent, unacceptable, and beyond trash worthy messages. I will continue to exist as an incredible melanated being. I will continue to preach truth-to-power, showing the world EXACTLY what it means to embody social justice love 🙏🏽❤️
