Ritual Theater 🎭 is an ancient art form that plays out the cosmos, reflects society and shapes culture.

The wheel of time… harvest season & integration 🧡

Reflecting back to one year ago 🍂
All that was ending, and beginning

I love autumn for its shift in rhythm

Even here Central America where the season changes are unique to the region, my biology knows the cycles from cellular memory of being raised in the northern hemisphere

This is naturally a time of slowing down, reflecting, assessing, contemplating what has been, allowing a natural shedding and preparing for the wintering season where new dreams are discovered

This year
My son is harder to toss in the air
He has a younger brother

My heart has learned new ways to love
through loss

I am bolder
and softer

I am more driven
and more surrendered

I carry more songs
and less fucks

As passionate as ever
and more patient

The last 13 months
have been filled with
tremendous sorrow
alchemized into
greater reverence
gentle perseverance
resilience
And eventually, unbridled joy

The mission is bigger
The steps are smaller
Yet steady

Dancing to the symphony of life’s eternal, exquisite mastery

Forever in awe of the beauty of the mystery of creation

Brazil, the world is asking you to vote.
October 25. 💚🤍💛💙

We just spent beautiful days hosting @benki.piyako , spiritual leader of the Ashaninka people of Apiwtxa, and his family here at @yacumamaecovillage

We first met three years ago planting a school garden in South Central LA with @loveactivists (photos 6-10), and having them share their wisdom with us now has been truly life changing.

In the 1980s, loggers tore through Ashaninka land. Benki and his brothers responded by moving their village onto an abandoned cattle pasture and planting.

Today it’s a living forest of food, fruit, and medicine.

They’ve planted millions of trees and even taught former loggers to replant what was cut.

Their work has been honored worldwide, including the UN Equator Prize and this year’s Niwano Peace Prize.

This is proof there is another way: a regenerative way, where land is cared for, not sold off for monoculture and short-term profit.

This way of life needs leaders who listen to Indigenous voices and protect the Amazon, the living heart of our shared future. What happens there happens to all of us.

🇧🇷 To every Brazilian citizen: vote on Sunday, October 25, and vote for Lula.

Vote for the forest, for its guardians, and for future generations. Talk to your family. In a race this close, every vote counts.

As a mother of sons
Who will grow into men

That already are filled with such love, adoration, respect and reverence for the feminine with their tiny, mighty hearts, words and hugs

I find myself struggling to fathom the sorrow

Unable to imagine the level of suffering
That can lead to the violence we are witnessing

Grief and rage seem like an understatement anymore ~ yet I still welcome them, familiar relatives at this point, letting that energy be in motion as emotion moving through

It continues to surprise me that headlines still shock me. And I’m glad to know that in everything we have been exposed to, it hasn’t numbed me

The only response I can make sense of is to lean into the archetype of the mother ~ who loves without limits and shows that love by providing firm boundaries

The motherly love that can behold a sick child ~ a sick society ~ and not look away, bypass or try to make light of a severe disease

Our human soul is decaying
The organism is struggling
It’s possible we won’t make it out alive

And yet,
I remain ever hopeful

Inspired by the beauty growing from the rot

And ever more devoted

To address the disease holistically, actively, steadily and seriously

These atrocities are unacceptable and will be banished before our children are grown so that r*pe and war are a sad memory of the past and a brutal teacher that we learned and evolved from

May we all do better

I had the gift to sit in council yesterday with some of my biggest heroes, entering a dialogue of what it means to be culture creators.

One of the main points that arose was this dynamic dance between holding the frequency and vision we wish to see while also addressing the current issues of our world.

Privilege gives us the chance to escape the suffering that many are facing. Yet, we are part of one human organism and the pain rippling through our species is felt through the collective.

And while it can be easy to turn a blind eye to the systemic oppression, militarization of government and catastrophic climate change when it doesn’t effect us personally, the distance between these issues and our own lives is closing in.

What can we do individually and collectively to prepare and prevent the dystopian narrative that is trying to overthrow our existence?

Personally, I find it to be a delicate balancing act of being informed and staying inspired.

To be clear ~ I have ultimate trust in our future, no doubt that we will prevail and pass on a more peaceful world to the coming generations.

And yet, we will not get there through compliance, avoidance and silence.

#REIMAGINATIONCHALLENGE with my sis and shero @aylanereo in celebration of her EPIC new remix album with @diamondemuse

All our favorite anthems turned into the best dance tracks!

Such perfectly aligned timing as we dance through this turning point in the wheel of the year, a time to reflect on what we are harvesting and imagine what world we are preparing to plant for ourselves and generations to come.

Beyond excited for the music, art and inspiration pouring through these days meanwhile the “screw it, let’s do it” attitude seems to be running the show and GIVING full permission to act as a radical advocate for the crumbling of empire and revival of a culture that serves life.
