Living well after seventy,
bringing a house back to life 🏡
creating a garden from scratch🪻
kindness, curiosity,
tea in the pot.🫖
and probably cake. 🎂

after all the planning and conversations, we’re settling into our space. Almost everything in this area of the garden has been reused and/or repurposed, thanks (as ever) to our talented crew.
Seeds planted, roses to go up the posts of the deck, edible flowers and vegetables in raised beds, it’s very exciting!
We’re no experts, but we know what we love, having the chance to create our dream from nothing is all-consuming, can’t wait to see how spring and summer unfold…

it’s finally here - the landscaping is done (at least for now) it’s time for planting, seed sowing, roses to train, edible flowers to harvest…follow for the highs and lows as we face what could be the hottest summer ever, along with the great risk to our birds and wildlife.
It’s a worrying time for the entire planet; feeling blessed to have a sanctuary to cherish…

when we asked for advice on the biggest job we’ve ever undertaken, we had little sense of just how big it would be! huge thanks to Dave, Tony, Jake, Jasper, Lauren, Sam, Jarrah and Cam…and of course to our neighbours
for the beeping and the bouncing of rocks and the endless deliveries of materials - we’re so close to the end, let the celebrations begin! 🏡

This child-like birthday cake seemed the perfect way to speak of a milestone that is anything but childish -
Last week I turned seventy. 🤭

I never imagined I’d be writing those words!

If you’ve ever wondered what seventy feels like from the other side, I’d love you to come and read my latest newsletter

The link is in my bio.

a week of baking - hiding in the kitchen whilst the amazing team from @golandscaping transform our steep unusable slope into a space that will make the most of our beautiful location.

Can’t wait to see what comes next…

What will happen when the world is entirely digital; will it be eephemera?
And what will happen to all those bus tickets, and concert programmes, and photos where no-one recognises anyone? And match books; remember them?
Anyway, if you’d like to wander down the rabbit hole of treasures past with me, my post is up now on substack…(link in bio) 🧁
