UPDATED! with added blemishes...
Lacecap Hydrangea detail from a recent trip to the fabulous @holehirdgardens and their wonderful collection. This particular colour combination caught my eye first. Base layers of the turquoise, then the pinks and magentas.
9 inches diameter onto @archespapers Hot Pressed Watercolour paper. Seemed appropriate to draw with @derwentartofficial Artists and Lightfast ranges with guest appearances from @fabercastellglobal Polychromos and @lyra_feelcreative Polycolor.
From my own references. by @lowenstephen

Introducing Maisie...
A commissioned portrait that was gifted at the weekend and an emotional birthday in truth for all the right reasons!
It took a lot out of me at a difficult time personally. Drawing has a way of pulling you through. Thankfully, it did with this work and worth the tinkering, hours, full swear jars, and tears.
An additional Forget-me-not motif onto the mount for a more personal touch for the recipient.
I'm very proud of the outcome.

All coloured pencils and graphite.
Colours built up of @derwentartofficial Drawing and Artists ranges. Then subsequent layers of @fabercastellglobal Polychromos, @lyra_feelcreative Polycolor and @carandache Pablos.
The table is @staedtler graphite.
20 x 16-inches onto the @hahnemuehle_global Bristol Board 925gsm.

Lilac/Violet Rose head study...
Last doodle for a while from an exercise from the @fine_art_by_sun book.
It uses a different colour palette ( lilacs and violets rather than rich reds ) to the one suggested and happy with the result. The book has got my drawing back on track, which was part of the idea, and I would recommend it too.

Back to my own references and notes very soon. Watch this space!

Morning Glory head study
Another exercise from the @fine_art_by_sun workbook.

A slight change to the suggested palette plus a great opportunity to use 2 of the new @fabercastellglobal Polychromos colours as part of the drawing.

Lisianthus head study...
Another exercise from the @fine_art_by_sun workbook and great fun, too.
The original image was white tinged with purples/violets. I thought to use the tonal values and go full orange for my interpretation. A great opportunity to use 2 of the new @fabercastellglobal Polychromos colours as part of the drawing.

I am looking forward to doing more exercises and some light relief from commission work. taken in Clocktower Business Centre by @lowenstephen

Following the completion of a challenging commission.
Some works take a lot out of you, that one did. All good but I wanted something lighter and less taxing.
I prefer to use my own references, etc, but every now and then, I will dip into my library...

This Freesia study is one of those occasions.
9 inches in diameter onto @hahnemuehle_global Bristol board.
A @promarker.winsor.newton base, then subsequent layers of @fabercastellglobal Polychromos pencils to build up the tones.
The reference is an interpretation ( I swapped the original yellow to a lilac/purple ) of an exercise from Fabulous Flowers: Colored Pencil Workbook by Sun‑Kyung Clifford @fine_art_by_sun taken in Clocktower Business Centre by @lowenstephen

Latest doodle from a recent trip to the fabulous @creswellcrags. This yellow flag Iris is the first of a possible few drawings to come. The bright summery yellow really pops!

Approximately 8 inches in diameter onto @hahnemuehle_uk Bristol Board.
@winsorandnewton Promarker for a base layer then subsequent layers of @fabercastellglobal Polychromos and @carandache Pablos to complete drawing.
