I never want to let this one go.

The job of dreams. Going to soak it all up with this incredible team at our final matinee show in the Linbury: don’t judge if you see me crying on stage today.

“to form mutually enjoyable, enduring, cooperating and reciprocating relationship with Other, with an equal

to be forgiven

to be loved

to be free”

In bocca al lupo to Mascarade alum @lozbyoung , who makes her debut at the @royalballetandopera in Philip Venables’s 4.48 Psychosis! 🧡

A Mascarade alum from 2020/21, Lauren joins the cast as Emily in Ted Huffman’s production, based on Sarah Kane’s text. She performs alongside Jacquelyn Stucker as Gwen, Hannah Edmunds as Jen, Sophia Burgos as Suzy, Veena Akama-Makia as Clare, and Marta Fontanals-Simmons as Lucy, with conductor Naomi Woo leading the Chroma Ensemble.

Wishing Lauren and the entire company a wonderful performance and run! ✨

Tonight we open 4.48 Psychosis @royalballetandopera in the Linbury Theatre. I feel so many emotions, it’s impossible to put them into words. Mainly, I am extremely grateful. This has been the project of dreams.

To the amazing women I share the stage with: @jacquelynstucker @martafontanals @vakamamakia @hannahedmunds1 @sophiamburgos3 I am so proud of you all. Many cans of Diet Coke and Percy Pigs and LOVE to keep us on the straight and narrow as we created something we are so proud of. 🩶

@woonaomiwoo who is nothing short of a miracle in guiding us through this work. You could not wish for a better conductor and human being! @micah__gleason at her side assisting like a boss and keeping us right along the way. You are both amazing. 🩶

@harriet_taylor our amazing AD. “One word for how you feel now and a word for how you want to feel” is my new mantra for life and she wins the prize for giving me my best note of all time. Babadook loves you. 🩶

@chromaensemble for the most insanely amazing playing I have ever heard. They add depth to this show that will blow your mind. @bensmithkeys_ and @berrakdyer too who blew my mind throughout rehearsals with their brains and piano skills. Thank you! 🩶

@harrietkennedy4174 and Tobi who have looked after us from day dot with compassion, jokes and hugs when we needed them. We could not be in safer hands. 🩶

To the original women who premiered 4.48: thank you for your hard work a decade ago. I hope we have done you proud in maintaining the integrity of this work. 🩶

@a.darraghkelly @g_cook @chibbs the producing dream team. Thank you for looking after us so well every step of the way too. 🩶

@rcannie_ltd for keeping us safe as we kicked, slapped and kissed our way through this show. 🩶

Last but not least @philipvenables and @tedddrh 🩶 I was so excited to get to work on another Venables/Huffman show after FATF, and this has surpassed all my wildest dreams. It’s truly an honour. Thank you for trusting me with your work and vision. 🩶

These incredible photos by @marcsbrenner capture the breadth and depth of emotion of this work that we are so excited to share with you all over the next week. Get your tickets. 🎟️ by @lozbyoung

🚨 TICKET GIVEAWAY — see below 🚨

4.48 PSYCHOSIS opens tonight —

Sometimes you sing a role where you have to find ways to make it your own, but sometimes you are given a role that you understand on a level that feels impossible to articulate.

I don’t really have words — at least not today — to thank my incredible colleagues: @hannahedmunds1 @sophiamburgos3 @vakamamakia @lozbyoung @martafontanals — for their incredible musicianship, their gorgeous singing, and their soulful and vulnerable dramatic presence.

@philipvenables @tedddrh @harriet_taylor @woonaomiwoo @micah__gleason @rcannie_ltd — geniuses that have created and stewarded a masterpiece of a work — I am indebted.

@royalballetandopera @a.darraghkelly for their incredible support and vision. @marcsbrenner for his genius behind the camera lens.

To @damegaj — the creator of this leviathan of a role. You created something so flexible and true that other artists can inhabit in their own authentic ways. Thank you.

The ✨ reality ✨ of making new opera.

It’s the beginning of week 3 in the 4.48 Psychosis room and we’re DRILLING these harder sections. Please enjoy me getting lost in the sauce (aka the unofficial tagline of this show that we have all utilised at some point…)

This is Scene 22, an almost hypnotic chant that mimicks Henry Murray’s “Psychogenic Needs”, contrasting human aspiration to the all consuming reality of severe depression.

In all seriousness: I love this music @philipvenables . I love the feeling of building it brick by brick until it clicks. And I especially love the colleagues who make this challenging but amazing score so much fun every day. @jacquelynstucker @hannahedmunds1 @sophiamburgos3 @martafontanals @vakamamakia @woonaomiwoo @micah__gleason @harriet_taylor @tedddrh 💖

If you’re wondering if I get the music right eventually…BUY A TICKET FOR THE SHOW TO FIND OUT! 😵‍💫 by @lozbyoung
