Wishing Muriel Dineen all the very best for her retirement. Muriel has been an integral part of the evolution of LSAD in Clare St regularly going beyond the call of duty and a rock of support to staff and especially students over the years. Have a great retirement Muriel! Photos by Pat Beisty. by @lsadlimerick

You Belong Here follows James, a current LSAD student whose journey into higher education did not follow the route he originally expected.

Through his experience, and the people whose own stories intersect with his, the film explores education not simply as a destination, but as a place where encouragement, opportunity and human connection can change what someone believes is possible. by @lsadlimerick

Languagings: Materialising Alternative (Art) Worlds is a presentation, workshop and round table discussion in the LSAD Gallery which brings together a variety of disciplines, practices and perspectives from across different institutions: LSAD, UCC, and the Ralahine Centre for Utopian Studies at UL. Wednesday September 30th.10am-1pm.
Languagings looks at the changing nature of artistic practice in a rapidly evolving technological landscape asking questions such as what forms of knowledge should interest the artist today? What are the appropriate sources for this type of knowledge? and how can institutions like LSAD explore these questions through a material, concrete lens? Different perspectives will help institutions (in Limerick and beyond) to address these broad questions and concerns.

In the first part of the morning speakers Professor Carlos Garrido Castellano, Professor Michael G. Kelly, Dr Mary Nunan, Dr Cherie Driver, Dr. Mathew Maher, and Dr. Robert Kilroy will explore the role of artistic imagination in the process of designing and materialising viable futures. This will be followed by a round-table discussion exploring the changing nature of artistic practice in a rapidly evolving technological landscape. by @lsadlimerick

Created by the hugely talented team Forge Design Factory and made at the Maker Station in LSAD each award was made in Limerick using fully sustainable and recycled materials.
They really deserve an award of their own!

It was great to meet visitors for Culture Night in LSAD last night. Alongside exhibiting a selection from the LSAD permanent collection and showcasing films from the creative broadcast programme we were particularly proud to have tours take in our new workshop areas which are now operational. A special thanks to curator Des, Pam and Ann in the workshops and Ken and Lucy for the drawing demonstrations. by @lsadlimerick
