POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Finished up my third of three proofreading jobs for May/June. I was so focused on them that I kind of forgot to advertise that I’m a freelance proofreader. 😅 So, here’s my official call for jobs. If you’re looking for a proofreader, please DM me to chat about your project and see if we’d be a good fit. Now booking for the rest of the year (and 2027 if you want to get things scheduled early!).

If my WIP was a. . .

🥀flower, it would be foxglove.
🪾place, it would be a foggy forest.
⛅️time of day, it would be dawn.
☕️coffee, it would be black, with a scone, of course.
🕯️candle, it would be black cherry and bourbon or a fresh meadow at daybreak.
🧪color, it would be green, like the potion that changes everything.

I was giddy with excitement making this because I love this book SO MUCH!! The vibes are vibin’. Getting ready to send out to alpha readers, and I hope they love it as much as I do. 🥰

Thanks to @fountain.of.books for the inspiration to do this, and to @unsplash for the gorgeous pictures!

A little bit about why I love fantasy. The world can feel very dark sometimes and it’s easy to think “why bother? How can I make a difference?”, but fantasy always reminds me that we absolutely can make that difference and that there is always hope. One of the things I love most about @sarahjmaas books is that she shows the power and resilience of everyday people. It’s not just the main characters, it’s the conductors and musicians in Throne of Glass, it’s the ballet in Crescent City, it’s the everyday citizens of Velaris in ACOTAR. It reminds us that we don’t have to special powers to make a difference.

I’d love to hear from you about your favorite genre and why you love it.

Happy one month of publication to @kuliashawrites second book baby, Bigfoot Confidential! Jericho James is on the case again this time in the Pacific Northwest. There’s so much to love about these stories, and I’m going to need part 3 asap. I’m really bad about sharing spoilers which is my reviews are so…vague. But just trust me, these books are such a fun ride (pun VERY much intended 😂).

Congrats again, Jasmine! You deserve all the success. 💕

I LOVE a good mythology retelling and while I’ve been able to read incredible ones from many areas of the world, a huge knowledge gap for me is Central and South America. I currently only have one fantasy/myth retelling on my TBR from that area! I’m hoping my friends on Instagram might be able to recommend ones that they love.

Do you have a favorite mythology retelling or fantasy story from a Central or South American author?? Please give me all your recs!

Finally reading my most anticipated read of the year, The Gods Will Song Our Song by @autumn__krause! It’s such a beautiful and well told story set against the backdrop of one of the darkest chapters of US history. This story is so important to be told and remembered. Highly recommend this excellent read.

Hawk and Sparrow by @ayanagray_ is the fastest I’ve read a book in ages and I loved every page of it! The only reason I didn’t read it in a day is because I had to prepare for my new job, but oh how I didn’t want to put it down and quickly finished it after work the next day! Such a lovely read for so many reasons, but I particularly loved the main characters and what I read as an allegory about AI.

Beautifully done. This book should be on every YA fantasy lover’s shelf. 5⭐️

Today’s the big day—my first official publication! 🎉 I’m so excited to be a part of this incredible group of Virginia authors and that I got to share my creepy, little locally inspired story.

Special thanks to @jamesblakeyauthor and @catsimpson_writes for putting this together, and to @gracedunnwrites for reminding me what day it was 😅 You all are gems.

Excited for this huge writing milestone and for what’s to come. ☺️

This was my first time attending the @jamesriverwritersrva conference, and wow, what an incredible event! So incredible that these are the only pictures I took because I was too busy having an awesome time (and meeting @pdjeliclark!! I’ve shared about Ring Shout and Dead Cat Tail Assassins before and both are 5-star reads!). Got to see some old friends and make some new ones. Thanks especially to @phelpsty, @c.yelei, and @k_a_herndon for all the hard work they put into making this event happen. Already looking forward to next year!

Early morning writing sess powered by low lights and a hot americano. I’m not a morning person. Not technically. But I’ve also stopped being a night owl. Getting up early to knock out my personal goals before the day even starts is the only way I can get things done right now.

As I type this, it’s 5:40 am. My goal moving forward is to get up at 5 and start writing by 5:15.

Any other early morning writers out there? Would love some accountability buddies! by @lsbwrites

The Everlasting is beautiful inside and out. It’s no wonder it won the Hugo award this year.

It’s sold as a romance—and it is!!—but the part that stood out to me most was the story of power. What some people do when they have it, and what some people do when they don’t.

It reminds me almost of an adult Tuck Everlasting but less devastating.

(Also, I got this personally signed at a book event almost a year ago. Better late than never, right??)

(Double also if you made it this far, it really is a romance with every meaning of that word, which I was not expecting. Would love to elaborate but don’t want to share any spoilers so if you’ve read it, please DM me 😆).
