Angelina Boudreaux, a Master of Accountancy student and BS Accounting alumna, has received a $15,000 scholarship from the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board. Boudreaux credits some of her success to her faculty that have supported her and provided opportunities.

“I’ve been very fortunate to have faculty at LSU who genuinely care about their students and want to see them succeed."

At this year’s LSU Department of Accounting Scholarship Banquet, more than $100,000 in scholarships were awarded to our outstanding students and faculty with the support of over 40 industry partners. We also recognized four exceptional business student organizations whose leadership and service continue to strengthen the Department of Accounting.

Associate Professor Sanaz Aghazadeh presented her paper "Private Equity and Professional Jurisdiction Auditing" at the International Symposium on Audit Research in Maastricht, Netherlands. The paper explores how transaction advisors structure deals for private equity investment in accounting firms and the effect on the auditing profession. Congrats to Angelina Boudreaux - our 2026 recipient of the $15,000 PCAOB scholarship! Angelina graduated in May 2026 with a BS in accounting and is incoming to our MAcc program. During our alumni reception, we honored Thomas Phillips, Department Chair and Professor in the Department of Accounting, and Laura Wiley, Associate Department Chair and Undergraduate Advisor in the Department of Accounting, for their outstanding contributions. Ron Gitz, representing the Society of Louisiana CPAs, presented both honorees with lifetime member awards. The event opened with remarks from three Beta Alpha Psi presidents, Sydney Melder, Avery Aucoin, and Ava Burnum, who spoke about the lasting impact Laura and Thomas have had on LSU and its students. We are grateful for all they have done to support and inspire the LSU community, and they will truly be missed. We also thank all of the alumni, BAP members, and faculty who attended and helped make the event such a success. by @lsu_accounting
