we like to have fun around here 🐊

To say the past year of my life has been life-changing would be a drastic understatement.

This spring, I graduated with a BS in Environmental Studies from @ucf.edu . I never thought that this would be my path going into college. My first 2 years I was purposeless, floating around taking classes for a major I wanted nothing to do with. Everything changed for me when I picked up the camera and began exploring.

I feel it’s an absolute necessity to thank @ucfturtlelab for first accepting me as an intern, and welcoming me back as a returner this year. I’ve made lifelong friends, invaluable connections, and had an incredible first introduction to field research. It’s an experience I will look back on with love forever.

I also need to show love to @atkinson.matt and @udie.research.group for welcoming me as a field tech and teaching me everything I know about herpetology. I met some amazingly talented people, and I was able to work with such a wide variety of animals and ecosystems. I feel blessed to have been able to help my friends/fellow undergrads with their own research projects. Also shoutout to Jack for introducing me to the lab

Additionally, thank you to the @floridawildlifecorridor and @floridamanphoto for accepting me as a photography intern twice and showing me such great hospitality and support for my work, both creative and academic.

In all 3 of these experiences I was surrounded by the most thoughtful, hardworking, and passionate people I’ve ever met. I cannot thank everyone enough for simply being who they are and teaching me everything I know about wildlife conservation.

Thank you to all the friends I made in Orlando and beyond, it means the world to have your support and to know I have people rooting for me.

As @prof.darden told me, life is all about relationships.
I’ll be thinking of you all always.

Big ups to @hootieofficial for being the soundtrack of the past 4 years

Delgado, L. S. 2025. “blue theory and its effects on mental hardness.” 🪼

Very special thank you to everybody at both @ucfturtlelab and @floridawildlifecorridor for accepting me as an intern, and making this summer a lifetime highlight. From driving over 2,500 miles, to waking up at 5am for no-breakfast 9 hour beach surveys in 110°+ weather, I wouldn’t have changed a thing. 🐢

Extra gratitude to @floridamanphoto and @zpfranco123 for the mentorship, hospitality, and passion these two have shown me and many others. Working with y’all has been nothing short of inspiring.🦎
