Thanks to everyone who made the International Non-Binary Day Festival such a gorgeous, community-fueled, space. The kind, accepting folks, great convos, performances, markets, shared food, awesome maker’s market, and all the puppies!! It was great to see so many familiar & new faces.

🧚🏻‍♀️Fae Workum (he/him) is an emerging artist, photographer, and fashion designer whose work embraces maximalism, bold colour, and eccentricity. His practice is deeply influenced by alternative and internet subcultures, and the ways they intersect with music, fashion, and politics.

With a long history of creativity dating back to childhood (he still has the hot glue gun scars
to prove it), his fascination with art has led him to explore as many mediums as possible,
always chasing the pure bliss of the “artist’s flow state.” He is currently studying a
Bachelor of Fashion Design at QUT, where he has found that, now more than ever, he is
drawn to tactile, hands-on mediums that allow him to feel connected to a piece throughout its
entire creation. 🪡

🖍️Jamie (she/they) is self taught multimedia artist originally from Rockhampton, Queensland, now based out of Brisbane. Working primarily with bright hues of acrylics, oils and textiles- Jamie’s work has primarily been in response to navigating a Catholic upbringing in a small town as a politically inclined queer feminist, and explores the patriarchal violence associated with that. They pull inspiration from artists such as Ai Wei Wei (‘Remembering’, 2009) and Jenny Holzer (‘Lustmord’, 1993-94), for the artists’ ability to elicit emotion and educate their audience with previously unknown perspectives from women. Jamie has previously been published in the IMA’s ‘Art Enquirer’ in 2017, alongside a number of other young artists, but will be exhibiting formally for the first time this year. 💜

🍀Lucent Flow (they/them) is a kind-punk printmaker. They facilitate creative art groups and collaborative art-making projects. They are currently playing with mixed media and recycled materials on themes of nature and queerness. They make prints, patches and badges for the time being, and have a lot of unfinished projects.

✨Messy Queer Pride exhibition ✨ ‘Thank You’ post!
There are way too many people to thank in one post, so we’ll be sharing photos and thanks over the next two weeks. It’s been a huge effort, with so many people supporting in a variety of ways, all co-creating an absolutely magical grassroots community group exhibition, open day / crafty picnic and art workshops over August.
Exhibition extended til Friday 11 September - so go check it out!
