🌊🧶 The “leftovers” Valentina Shawl is finished! 🧶🌊
I tried to take some pictures outside, but it was SO windy that I had to anchor the shawl with a few stones… otherwise, it would have ended up flying straight into the Irish Sea! 😂
I’m really pleased with how it turned out, and I love how all these colours have come together. ❤️

Hello everyone! ❤️
I haven’t quite managed a “This is me” post yet (although I’ve seen some really lovely ones!!), but I did say before that I was going to give you a little tour of my studio in the lovely Ayrshire coast …
So… here we go! 🧶✨
It’s my little happy place, where all the yarn lives, ideas happen, and probably far too much time is spent faffing with colours! 😂

Good morning 😊 back in Scotland.. I said I was going to open my parcel gorgeous parcel from @stylecraftyarns as soon as I got home, so yes, here we go! 😂

The video is pretty pedestrian (I really need to invest in one of those phone stands so I don’t have to hold the phone while I’m recording!), but it doesn’t really matter. No editing, no fuss , just as if you were here with me in the studio. 🥰 ,maybe that would’ve been better as you could have done the recordings 🤣…
Now the challenge is I need to stop faffing with the new yarn and get my luggage and the house back in gear! 😂 do you hate unpack after a long trip? I really do… 😩😩😩

As you’ve probably already seen, quite a few of those lovely Stylecraft Big Boxes have been arriving! My husband sent me a picture ( a bit blurry..)of a rather gorgeous big parcel… and it looks like my box has arrived too! 😍

🧶 Happy Granny Square Day! 🧶

Today is Granny Square Day, so I thought I would celebrate it slightly differently.

Instead of showing you a pristine, perfectly blocked, gorgeous granny square in beautiful colours, I’m showing you these little, humble granny squares i made that have been living in my mum’s kitchen for years. ❤️
They started life as simple little crochet squares and became pot holders …nothing fancy, nothing precious, just something useful.
And look at them now! They’re stained, faded, discoloured from bleach and have been through goodness knows how many washes. They certainly wouldn’t win any beauty contest 😂… but they are still there, doing their job every single day.
And honestly, I think that is one of the things I love most about crochet.
We can spend hours making something beautiful and precious, but crochet doesn’t always have to be about creating something perfect. Sometimes the most satisfying things are the pieces that become part of everyday life , the blanket thrown over the sofa, the little basket holding your bits and pieces, the dishcloth, the pot holder, the bag you take everywhere.

A granny square might be one of the simplest crochet motifs there is, but it is also one of the most versatile. Change the colours, change the size, join them together, use just one, or make hundreds of them …there really are endless possibilities.

And perhaps these little battered squares are proof of that. They’ve been used, washed, bleached, stained and loved… and they’re still going. 🥰

So today, on Granny Square Day, I’m celebrating the humble granny square in all its forms …not necessarily perfect, but useful, practical, colourful and made to last.

Because sometimes the little things we make become part of our everyday lives without us even realising how special they are. ❤️

Sorry for the silence! I’m back in Italy for a few weeks.
I don’t have anything crochet-related to show you just yet because I’m busy working behind the scenes on some exciting projects. Sometimes the most important work happens when you can’t see it!

Wet and miserable on the Ayrshire coast … the perfect excuse to spend the day in the studio. I came across this quote this morning and it really resonated with me. I don’t know whether I can call myself an artist, but I do know that I put my heart into everything I create. Happy Sunday! ❤️🧶✨

Good morning, I hope you all had a great weekend. I’ve been working in my new studio! It took me the whole weekend to sort out some of the yarn and all the other materials into some kind of order, but I’m really pleased with how it turned out. I’ll show you more in the next few posts.

In between organising the yarn, I also added a couple of bags to the collection for the classes. I’ve just completed a lovely bag with a small border ,the white and black one ,that Lelia made during the classes. Considering she had never crocheted just a few weeks ago, I can safely say she did a wonderful job!

Sometimes small projects are the best for that instant gratification, allowing you to apply the stitches you’ve learned to something concrete that you can actually use, and that doesn’t take months to complete like a blanket. #crochet #crochetbags #handmade #makersofinstagram #crocheterapia by @luciasfigtree
