Our first Angel Child Carol Concert - which we hope will become an annual tradition - at the beautiful Wren Chapel at Royal Hospital Chelsea.

We are going all out: the Royal Hospital’s incredible choir, lots of the very best carols, fantastic readers (secret for now but drawn from both our worlds…), all the bells and whistles, and then a fun party afterwards across the aisle.

Surely the best kick off to Christmas? And for all our American friends… start your Thanksgiving celebrations here. This seemed like the perfect date to us: just ahead of the festive madness and on Thanksgiving, a fitting nod to all the wonderful time we spent in 🇺🇸 while Alfie was having treatment.

And of course you’ll be raising money for Angel Child, helping fund the fight against brain tumours in children. You can read more about where every penny is going when you click the link in my bio to buy tickets 😜

Everything you could want from a hotel: a charming owner who has turned his family’s private home into a fabulous place to stay, a former River Cafe chef, a teeny but killer spa with an icy plunge, lots of hidden spots in the garden, an excellent barman who knows how to make a great old fashioned (with bourbon, obvs…), Ortigia in the beautiful bathrooms and - best of all - the best, best design, everything chosen for its story, character, its place in Maltese history and its beauty, including de Gournay hand painted walls.

Some standouts from last weekend’s Chelsea Arts Festival…

1. Susie Cave in conversation with Bella Freud about her new book Susie, with photos of the Caves taken over the decades by @dominiqueissermann and some words by Nick. She teased the return of The Vampire’s Wife - which is just “sleeping” - but most striking was her openness about the death of their son Arthur. How lucky they are to have all these photos of him, of them all together, which she says she wants to share with the world. She reminded me to be braver, because “the worst has already happened”. And that the small stuff just. doesn’t. matter. My heart 💔 for his twin left behind.

2. A night with Bernardine Evaristo & Friends and @womensprize. My god they were all so good but my fave was Bonnie Garmus who has a new book - Peck & Peck - landing in October. She was super funny about the misogynists in her office who stole her ideas and inspired Lessons in Chemistry. Karma…

3. Fiona Shaw stealing the show (just as the reviewers say she steals the film) talking about Sense & Sensibility.

4. A live recording of @thelondontheatrereview in which they moderately bashed two of this autumn’s hottest plays, interviewed @indhurubasingham about her epic new programme for the @nationaltheatre and @mrsamuelbarnett, star of The History Boys and Pride (transferring to @_bridgetheatre in Oct), and picked out the things to book now, now, now. Live now on all platforms.

5. @indiravarma reading A Poem for Every Night of the Year with pure excellence, alongside Asa Butterfield, Giles Terera, Tamsin Greig and Samantha Spiro. Bought the book afterwards and I’m sticking to it. One poem a night.

6. My absolute heroine @katherine.rundell. Who ate a tarantula’s face (tasted like burnt hair) ordered in a tin off the internet, just to be sure she could describe the flavour correctly in her book The Explorer, in which a bunch of children find themselves stranded in the jungle. She captured the imagination of every child in the audience (plus every adult’s) and made wannabe writers out of every single one of us. She is a total legend. A tarantula 🕷️ !!!

Our annual anniversary dip for Alfie. This year brought epic rain and a sea so enormous and swirling and lethal we couldn’t actually give it our full group plunge. And yet the sun broke through at exactly the moment we went down to the shore.

Spectacularly grateful as ever for our stalwart anniversary crew, masterminded this year by @beckyladenburg and @wladenburg, who with the Tills scoop in the five of us so carefully and help us find what we need, harder because we often don’t know what that is ourselves.

And thank you to all of you who messaged. It helps to know you’re thinking of him too. He should be 14. Impossible to imagine. 💛 taken in Eype Beach by @lucindabaring

Yesterday was my birthday, forever entwined with Alf’s, whose was…is… eight days before mine. In 2012, my present to myself was holding him all day, just eight days old, and my mother was horrified when I nearly dropped a spoonful of my cereal on his head.

Here he is, turning seven on 25 June 2019… his last birthday.

So sometimes I feel like celebrating my birthday (and last year was a goodie) and some years I don’t. This year was a quiet one, with a swim with the best @beckyladenburg and supper with @edb_belly and Willa and Kit.

A nice birthday present for me is the publication of our annual interiors book – our biggest ever 💥 – which has consumed me for the past few months. And boy did we celebrate its launch last night @marksclubmayfair

Some thank yous: to @carolewannett for her calm head, long hours and fabulous interiors nous (there is nothing and no one Carole does not know); the powerhouse @emmaredmayneconsulting and her awesome sidekicks @serenaknight_ and @olivealicemchugh (happy 3 July to my birthday twin. What a place you found for our discreet birthday party 😂 🎉); our esteemed judges @hattabyng @tatiana_kharchylava_, Jeremy King and Sandrine Zhang Ferron of @vinterior.co for their time and expert eyes; and all the team @countryandtownhouse. It was a big team endeavour.

To all our 50 Finest Interiors Designers and 10 Titans of Design...CONGRATULATIONS! This book is a celebration of your wonderful work. Thank you.

I am still recovering from Saturday: Shakespeare with Kristin Scott Thomas, Mark Rylance and Johnny Flynn @nevillholtfestival… right up close (my seat was actually ON the stage) as they read Venus and Adonis. They had rehearsed it only the day before - having not performed it together since 2024. Was a pinch me moment…

…to Wembley, for Sienna Spiro, Raye and Myles Smith at Capital’s Summertime Ball (decked out in cagoules. Ffs England in June) with Vi and Kit. Vi almost passed out with joy during Sienna, Kit during Myles… but Calvin Harris stole the show for me (see Stories ☝️). by @lucindabaring

Popped into the Wow!house press preview yesterday and WOW was totally into the whole thing - 20 rooms, each by a different designer, and each one very different. It is obviously a backbreaking exercise for all involved - but for us punters it is pure fun, fantasy and joy.

This is the colour-popping Minwha salon by designer @younghuh and @benjaminmooreuk paints, which I loved, but special shout out also goes to @saracosgrovestudio whose morning room is a blissful hark back to the pre-scroll era, complete with 2003 issues of H&G on the coffee table and a crochet bundles on the desk, and also the @salvesengraham bedroom. Could have slipped into bed with the copy of Rivals they’ve placed next to it. Dream.

Walked the @veuveclicquot yellow carpet (yes, it's yellow, not orange) for their Bold Woman Awards 2026, and happiness because...

1. Was sat next to @frankie.aira the Queen of clean air...who it turns out is also the wife of my teen's Spanish teacher (what are the chances?? And how on earth did we figure it out over dinner??)
2. Was reunited with my bestest @beatricehodgkin
3. The @veuveclicquot flowed all night
4. Met @yinka_ilori who has made some cool stuff for Veuve's Chasing the Sun collection
5. The actual winners are both leading the good fight – Smruti Sriram CEO of @bagsofethics who won the 2026 Bold Woman Award and Alisha Fredriksson, CEO and co-Founder of Seabound, who received the 2026 Future Award for her innovation in tackling shipping emissions 👊 taken in Dovetale by @lucindabaring
