✨I’m a 2025 @musicvictoria Board nominee✨
.
Details + nominees: musicvictoria.com.au/2025-board-nominees/, plus you can read my full bio at lucygrash.com/biography
.
Let me share with you why I want this.

Traveling the world, I’ve also spent my whole life in Victorian music spaces - as an awarded string arranger and session musician, behind the scenes working for orchestras and the major performing arts orgs, and in writing rooms, funding meetings and rehearsal rooms. The Vic music community is my home in every sense.

I’ve worked as an independent grants consultant for over 10 years. In 2024, I reached a new milestone: I won a cumulative $400,000+ in grants for independent artists and creative businesses.

There’s only so much I can do on my own. I have always ADORED working as part of a team towards something bigger than myself. So, I kept coming back to this idea:

What would it look like if all the skills I’ve built across music, teaching, strategy, governance, accessibility and funding could be shared at scale? What else could I help achieve for us as artists, businesses, orgs, venues…?

I’ve spent 15+ years speaking the language of musicians, institutions, educators, policymakers and venues. I really, truly care (and am really good at) building brilliant relationships, advocating for us all and helping people understand how to access funding opportunities, as well as helping funding bodies understand the challenges we face too.

And as a career session musician (shout-out to one of the most underrated forces/groups in our ecosystem), I would also love that perspective represented in rooms where decisions are made.

If you’re a paid Music Victoria member, you can vote at the AGM:

I really want to express deep gratitude to everyone who’s a part of my work. As I look out at sunset over my favourite place in the world, St Kilda, I also sit in such deep reverence for the Boonwurrung Woiwurrung people of the Kulin Nations, whose land I’m so, so lucky to live and work on in St Kilda. It inspires me every single day.

🥾 Meredith Music Festival 2023 🥾
.
For me, music is about the people you make it with. I can’t express the love I have for this band, and even more so, the humans that contribute everything they are and will be to the sound we make together. Humanity, softness, and empathy are things that make dreams come true. I won’t forget this day. I love you, TFB x

My dear @wattythompson’s caption:

One lap around the sun since stepping foot onto the hallowed stage in the Meredith Supernatural Amphitheater. A surreal and beautiful moment in time. A big dream, years in the making.

Please enjoy this video documenting the closing number of the set, ‘Coming Home’. ❤️

Whether you first heard the music while arm in arms with friends that day in the rain, or we’ve known one another for years, your love and support is greatly appreciated.

10 years of life with my best mate. Surrounded by love, Turbo left us around midday on Sunday 30 August. He was warm, calm and content. The bond we had was indescribable and won’t ever be broken. Everything I’ve made, sung, played, prepped, dreamed and written over the last 10 years has been infused with Turbo’s calm, quiet presence. He radiated unconditional, uncomplicated love. Oh, to love you, Turbo. You made my life sweet and rich and beautiful. Thank you, everyone, for loving him and giving him such a rich and love-filled time on earth. I miss him terribly. My heart is sore but I feel his presence and know he’ll be near me forever. Such is the beauty and mystery of this extraordinary life. Rest in peace, my sweet Turbo ❤️
.
If you have memories or photos of T, or even some words you found useful when losing your little best mate, I would love to hear/see them below. It would be a great comfort to me, my most incredible sister and Turbo’s first owner, our dear Lynn. Thank you x by @lucygrash

✨It’s new string day!✨ The reliability of these strings has a huge impact on my nervous system - both in the studio and onstage. It’s wild! Biggest and best change I’ve made recently. Have you seen my review of the NEW Evah Pirazzi Neos? Up now over on reels. Thank you, @pirastroofficial for the opportunity to be converted!✨ by @lucygrash

Some judging panels just get it. This was one of them. ✨

Such beautiful and special energy, sharp ears, thoughtful observations and genuine enthusiasm for every band that hit the stage.

And the feedback… SO much feedback. 🙌 The kind that goes well beyond a scorecard, with brilliant insights, generous encouragement and plenty for each band to take away with them.

We score you an A+++ and we’d quite like to keep you all. 🤘💗

✨ Lucy Rash – Musical Director, Ella Hooper Band / Copy & Grant Writer - Cult Copy
✨ Tania Sullivan – RackeTT Collective / Roar Fest
✨ Robbie Cappuccio & Simon Chatfield – PBOB Alumni - both members of the ridiculously credentialled three-peat PBOB champions Parental as Anything (2018, 2019 & 2021)

Thank you for bringing such a joyful and fun spirit to the Battle. You were an absolute treat. 🏆🎶
