The Princess from Kumasi.

A princess felt right to me — not simply because of royalty, but because inheritance is something you carry before you ever decide what to do with it.
I imagined someone coming from Ghana carrying something that could not be packed in a suitcase.
Inheritance.

The coat itself was built around that tension. Leather and suede occupying the same garment. Pearl and gold. Something refined, something strong. Something that could belong to an old world and still walk comfortably through New York.

I originally made it for a man.
Then she put it on.
And suddenly the idea I had written for the clothes was no longer enough.
She didn’t remove the royalty from the look. She changed my understanding of where the royalty was coming from.
The clothes had their own intention, but so did the person wearing them.

That stayed with me.
Because maybe this is what happens with everything we inherit.
Culture. Language. Faith. Clothing. Expectations.
We receive them carrying the intentions of people who came before us, and then our own bodies, experiences and lives begin changing what they mean.
I thought I was dressing her like royalty.
Then I looked at the photographs and realized the clothes had very little to do with it.

Maybe inheritance works the same way.
We don’t only carry what was given to us.
We participate in what it becomes.

Sometimes the picture carries so much more of a story than the highlight ever shows.

There was so much that happened before this moment — the uncertainty, the learning, the unexpected turns, the little wins, and the moments that pushed me outside of my comfort zone.

Looking back, I’m just grateful. Grateful for the lessons, the people I met, the doors that opened, and even the moments that didn’t go as planned.

Sometimes, the sunshine is worth the storm.

So keep going. Keep learning. Keep fighting for the things you believe in. You never know when one decision, one opportunity, or one more step forward will change everything.

Keep walking. Your breakthrough might be closer than you think. 🤍

🇳🇬, we are still dreaming.

Celebrating Independence Day is more than celebrating where we came from. It is a reminder of what Nigeria can still become.

We come from a country rich in people, creativity, resilience, talent, and possibility. So many incredible fruits have grown from Nigerian soil and gone on to make an impact around the world. And yet, we have also watched too much progress be slowed, lost, or undone.

All we are asking for is growth.
For a country that moves forward.
For a future that gives its people reasons to hope.
For a Nigeria where potential is not only celebrated, but protected and given room to flourish.

Because there is nothing more powerful than a dream.

One day, I hope we can look back and say, “We had a dream—and we kept believing until it became our reality.”

And when our children and their children tell the story of Nigeria, I hope their story is not the same one we inherited.

I hope they get to tell a greater story.
A story of growth.
A story of opportunity.
A story of progress.
A story of a Nigeria that finally became everything we always knew it could be.
