One week, two announcements, an unbelievable amount of excitement.

An insane amount of work from @kinners1988 and @james.wigglesworth to get these deals over the line and now we set off on the journey to opening two statement clubs - one in our home of Manchester and our first adventure down south to Essex.

Obsessively detailed, perfectly beautiful worldbuilding by the supremely talented Melissa at @thepearlmcr.

Yes, breakfast is coming but that’s not why I’m going to be waiting outside on the 26th Sept.

I’ll be there because going to Paris for a Crémant and a cig with my breakfast isn’t always possible, but going to Prestwich is.

I absolutely bought into this story, can’t wait to go and am in awe of what Mel and her small gang of creatives pull off without a blockbuster budget, twenty storey tech stack and a massive team of specialists.

I will never look as good as @collettepearls but I’ll be there giving it my best shot 🦪 taken in The Pearl by @lucynooneblake

There are loads of ridiculous privileges which come with my job, well fed, well watered, loads of fun; but nothing touches the joy of the people you get to meet.

Sat at @pollenbakery Ancoats on a sunny day a few years ago, @eloisepreen showed me an account called @jims.table. Two lads cooking beautiful food and documenting it in a way which felt polished but also somehow approachable in a way i’d not seen much of at that point.

One thing to note here - trust her, she knows.

Fast forward to this summer, we spent a day and night on the farm and in the restaurants in Cartmel, they brought some friends and a pile of kit, and we rooted about @ourfarm in the poly tunnels and chatted to the chickens, got heavily rained on - naturally, poked about the village, lunched at @rogan_and_co, got Jim on the pans with @paulburgalieres and then left them to enjoy dinner at @aulissimonrogan - a real deep dive into the heart of the Rogan operation.

I’m grateful to @irenelentsch and the glorious team at @wearestudiomeraki for trusting the process and everyone in Cartmel for pulling out every last stop to make this happen. I’m thankful for @_finwalker_ who sent me these snaps as mine are absolutely awful, to @james__holdsworth and @rubens.reubens for trekking all the way up north for the adventure and to Jim & Fin for being so excellent…with the exception of when you said I’m your restaurant Aunty which I know is a compliment but also made me feel c.90 years old.

Nature hates a vacuum and we didn’t love paying the rent on a space which was only half used.

Meet @cafebarbette - she’s in Chester, she’s a wine bar with really excellent snacks, a massive terrace and a smart wine discovery wall…

@cafebarbette was born of a need to fill a gap but ended up becoming the true expression of everything that’s brilliant about the QVO team. A dream of a wine bar - inspired by those red awnings and corner café’s so iconically of Paris - squeezed and squashed through @_thomas.white_ beautiful, relentlessly creative brain and refined and honed by @jaymaray_ and his endless need for the details to be perfect.

Things I love;

- Look at the little bookies pens to tick off your order on those beautiful tickets (nick one if you go)
- Look at the way the light falls on the tables
- Look how the wine wall (self service) always has someone there to chat you through the 30 odd bottles available, they’re custodian for the night and it’s a GOOD section
- Imagine deciding to shove the DJ right in the middle of the room (then you see that every single group that’s sat on the table in front has ended up on their feet dancing)

There’s more but I’ll get boring.

What a weekend! 🥳🫱🏻‍🫲🏼☀️🥂 An incredible party weekend for Dad’s 70th.

Immaculate hospitality from @hawksmoormanchester, obvs. The absolute BEST! Thank you so much for looking after us 🥹🩷

Incredible hospitality from @dakotahotelsuk! The hotel is amazing, and that Terrace is absolutely stunning. We had champagne, oysters and platters of all different chips! 10/10. Thank you so much for hosting our wonderful dad’s birthday!

Exhausted still. 🤣🩷 Well done @lucynooneblake for organising the majority, smashed it! Me and @phillynoone were wonderful moral support, I thought 🤣🫱🏻‍🫲🏼 taken in Manchester, United Kingdom by @lucynooneblake
