A Special Monday.....

On Monday Crafty was privileged to be asked to be a part of a panel at the first SCRAN by @stickyfigmedia. This was an event put together but the amazing @ainemorris_ and was an opportunity for a collection of fantastic people from our hospitality industry to come together and discuss successes, struggles and everything in between.

This genuinely felt like the beginning of something special and really will continue to create chances to give our hospitality industry support, strength and to have conversations that will benefit everyone.

We’re growing at QVO Hospitality and are incredibly excited to be looking for our next Ops Manager.

This is a big, exciting role for us. A hands on, field based position leading the General Managers across five of our sites in Liverpool, Manchester and Chester, spanning three brands: @marayrestaurants, @buyersclubliverpool and @cafebarbette.

Care is at the heart of everything we do, and this role is for someone who shares that belief. Someone who loves working with people and making things happen. Someone who knows when to challenge, when to support, and how to help our teams and sites perform at their best and deliver unforgettable experiences for our guests.

You’ll need a strong background in multi site hospitality, but just as importantly, you’ll need to share our approach to people, accountability and doing things with care.

✨For full details on the role and how to apply, head to maray.co.uk/careers ✨

And if you know someone who’d be a great fit, tag them below! 👇

Restaurants of Manchester's review series of the city’s ’Big 3’ restaurants is now live!

Last Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings we carried out fully independent, paid for, scorecard led critiques of all 3 venues. Generally standards have continued to rise, which is a testament to the city’s broader continuous improvement.

You can read them now, over on the city’s original, biggest and most trusted restaurant guide since 1999.

Link in Bio!

It’s been a true pleasure overseeing this series.

I had a free lunch slot last Friday so decided to pop into Erst for the first time in way too long!

Over the years Erst has proven itself to be reliably excellent, with my experiences ranging from either good to truly outstanding. As Manchester's first serious small plate and natty wine venue, it's great to see them still flourishing amidst a wave of quality which has landed in the city over the last few years.

Whilst actually in the dining room the visit was shared via a story on my personal Instagram, and a few friends and colleagues messaged along the lines of 'I've not been for ages, is it still any good'. The answer is yes, it really is.

The media machine over the years initially got an iota carried away with Erst in my opinion, and similarly, our neighbouring two tables of strangers on this particular dine decided to strike up a conversation and agreed between them that 'it's knocking on the Michelin Star door'. Steady on guys. But in a fast and fickle world of food and drink where people often forget their favourites in new favour of trendy fledglings, make sure that Erst is still a part of your regular Manchester food itinerary. You'll be handsomely rewarded with solid cooking, stunning proteins, deeply interesting wines, service as warm as at a best mate's house, and great value too.

I wasn’t going to review this one as my visit wasn’t ever intended for that, but then why not! Keep an eye over on the city's original and still most trusted restaurant guide, in the coming days; Restaurants Of Manchester
