We are BEYOND EXCITED to officially announce our next game, RETRO RIFT, coming to Kickstarter later this year.

Retro Rift is an action-packed Co-oP, set in the 90s, where you and your friends must save your town, when a cursed arcade machine brings the video game world, and its Evil Boss, into yours.

It blends epic levels of team strategy, cooking up crazy combos together, white-knuckle push-your-luck, and dice rolling, into the ultimate 90s underdog adventure with friends.

It's flat out fun, and is a game night you'll definitely remember; as you strategize together and go on an emotional roller coaster of a high-stakes adventure, against all odds, to defeat SHROUD, the evil boss, and his minions.

🌲📢 Benieuwd naar Aspens? Luister dan naar de speluitleg!

🇬🇧🌲 This is Aspens, a strategic game for two players. The goal? Claim the largest part of the forest! You both start around the water with seven trees, divided over three spaces.

Each turn, you roll the Sun and Wind dice. First, the sun determines how many trees you pull from your bag: did you roll a three? Then both players get a new tree for every space they own with a stack of at least three trees. As the active player, you always get one bonus tree.

Next, only the active player plants trees. Stack them on your own spaces for more future income, or claim empty spaces in the direction of the wind. If you manage to completely trap an area so your opponent can’t enter? Fill those empty spaces with your trees immediately!

Once the board is completely full, count the spaces: whoever dominates the most spaces wins the game. Do you have the strategy to conquer the forest? 🌳

🏮 𝗧𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗹𝘂𝗻𝗴 — my review copy, finally hitting the table with the designer & artist on Sunday! I’m also bringing their other games, 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗮𝘄 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘇𝘆 (already reviewed ✔️) and 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗮𝗻. So excited to play their creations with the people who poured their heart & soul into them! 💜

➕ Esta expansión añade dieciséis discos con diferentes reliquias cada una con su propio poder además incluye dieciséis cartas de disoes que nos indican qué hace cada reliquia cuando la activamos también trae una bolsa adicional para gestionar los nuevos componentes y dos losetas de sequía que añaden más dificultad y decisiones al tablero ampliando las posibilidades de cada partida

Deep among the trees, ancient artifacts lie hidden. Once belonging to powerful gods, they have long been forgotten. Yet their magic still lingers, waiting for someone to uncover the secrets they hold. 🍃

In Aspens: Ancient Artifacts, the expansion for the two-player game Aspens by Ludivore Games, the battle for the forest takes on a whole new dimension. As you continue to grow your woodland, you’ll discover mysterious artifacts scattered across the landscape. But you’re not the only one searching for these forgotten treasures! 🌿

At the beginning of each game, six artifacts are randomly placed on the board. By growing four trees around an artifact, you can claim it for yourself. Each artifact is connected to one of eight Ancient Gods, each offering a unique and powerful ability.

Some powers influence the wind or the sun, while others allow you to interfere with your opponent’s plans. But there’s a catch: each ability can only be used once. 🍂

And that’s where the interesting decisions begin. Do you use your newfound power immediately, or save it for the perfect moment when everything falls into place?

The expansion adds another layer of strategy to the familiar gameplay. It’s no longer just about how your own forest grows, but also about which ancient powers your opponent manages to collect. Because sometimes, one small artifact can make all the difference between two growing forests. 🌳✨

Aspens is a two player game (up to 4 with the Deciduous Duos expansion) that has a relatively simple play loop: Roll the two dice, claim trees according to the number of groves with equal or more trees than the number on the dice, then, place your trees one by one either into an existing grove or adjacent in either the direction of the sunlight die or one of the adjacent directions. You also get to claim trees (but not place them) on your opponents turn. Try to cover more spaces than your opponent to win the game.

This is a delightful and light game that is gorgeous to look at and fun to play. It's the type of game where you immediately want to play another game if you lose, and thankfully it's very easy to do so. The artwork is beautiful throughout - Kaitlin Brasfield did a wonderful job and as someone who lives in a place surrounded by Aspen trees, the art evokes the experience of being amongst them. With the pretty colors of the wooden trees, a fall afternoon walk in the mountains is what comes to mind as I place them down.

The decisions made in this game are few but impactful. Will you make your groves larger so you can get more trees later? Or will you seize the moment to attempt to cut your opponent off from a region of the map so you can score it for yourself? There's a push and pull to the game as you want to keep up with your opponent so you are always receiving similar amount of trees, unless you get overwhelmed later. Also, you can't let them just place trees while you try to get more and larger groves all the time. There has to be balance, and you hope you can squeeze out the slightest edge to win.

This game is a lot of fun - and I recommend the Marvelous Marvels and Wild Weather expansions to add in more variability to your games.

Who knew growing a forest could be this pretty? 🌲💚

In 𝗔𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀, you compete to grow the biggest forest:

The 𝘵𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 is gorgeous! I love the four-player expansion’s trees so much that we use them in the base game, too. We take tree aesthetics very seriously. 😂🌲

💜 𝗠𝘆 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗻 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲
I’m reviewing the 𝘣𝘢𝘴𝘦 𝘨𝘢𝘮𝘦 here. It’s light, accessible and easy to learn — great for families or introducing new players to the hobby.

But for someone who enjoys strategic depth? 🤔 The game leans a little too heavily on luck. Dice and wind leave limited room to influence where your forest grows. The exciting moments come when you trigger a cascade and claim an enclosed area.

And sometimes… 🌳🌳🌳 you grow so many trees that your opponent has little chance of catching up.

For me, that takes away some of the fun. I love it when both players stay engaged until the very end, and you’re still wondering who’s going to win! 😉

🌱 The Artifact expansion might change things — more on that in a separate post! 👀

🌲 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘺𝘦𝘳 – Does going first give too much of an advantage? I’d love to test a snake setup.

🌳 𝘛𝘳𝘦𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘤𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 – Up to seven trees fit on a space, but stacking more than five means rearranging larger trees for smaller ones. A minor detail, but the design could be better.

What looks like a forest can actually be one enormous living organism.

In Utah, around 47,000 aspen stems are connected beneath the ground as a single organism known as Pando — spreading across more than 100 acres and possibly surviving for at least 12,000 years.

Individual trunks grow and die. Pando simply carries on.

A fitting bit of natural wonder to accompany this first look at Aspens from Ludivore Games. 🌿

This cosy, two player strategy game challenges you to grow the largest forest by carefully balancing how you spread your trees. Each turn, both players are rewarded with trees depending on how dense their forests are, and the active player must follow the wind to spread their forest across the board. It’s a tactical balance of timing to grow your forest tall and gain more trees, and knowing when to spread wide to control more of the board from your opponent.

Aspens’ gentle strategy makes it very accessible, whilst offering enough depth to keep you coming back for more. It was very popular at our last Board Game Retreat, being so easy to get stuck into!

We think it’s a perfect game to get to the table for autumn, and we can’t wait to share two copies for others to enjoy!

#mysterymonday🎲 again! The theme “Box Organization” this week was chosen by the community. Also combining with #Boardtober2026 “In an effort to fit in”We decided to focus on a new game we loved the luxe interior and I needed to film an organizing video! Check it out!

🧹 Hoy traemos con nosotros Wild Weather una expansión para Aspens de @ludivoregames en la que tendremos que tener en cuenta las inclemencias del tiempo más allá del viento habitual añadiendo efectos climáticos que pueden alterar por completo la partida y obligarnos a replantear cada decisión

➕ Esta expansión añade seis nuevos dados que activan efectos especiales en las cartas de tiempo también incluye seis cartas de tiempo que según la tirada nos mostrarán distintos fenómenos que pueden ir desde colocar losetas adicionales con nieve hasta provocar una riada de barro cada efecto cambia el tablero y complica la estrategia además trae una bolsa para gestionar los nuevos componentes y añade una nueva capa de dificultad muy interesante ya que introduce un factor negativo que afecta por igual a ambos jugadores haciendo las partidas más tensas y desafiantes
