Siete stati a Essen? Cosa avete portato a casa, o cosa avreste comprato? Vi leggiamo nei commenti! 😍

🌳 𝗔𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀 - 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗱𝘂𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗗𝘂𝗼𝘀 🌳
𝘍𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘺𝘦𝘳𝘴. 𝘛𝘸𝘰 𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘮𝘴. 𝘖𝘯𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵. 🌲

Remember when I said the base game of 𝗔𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀 was a little too luck-driven for my taste? Well… 👀

Turns out, teamwork might be exactly what this forest needed!

🌲 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗔𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝘃𝘀. 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗣𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀
The 𝘋𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘥𝘶𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘋𝘶𝘰𝘴 expansion turns Aspens into a four-player, 2-vs-2 game. And I’m loving it! 💚

🌳 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁?
🤝 𝘛𝘦𝘢𝘮𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬. Use your own trees and your teammate’s to trigger cascades and close areas!

🔄 𝘈 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘦 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨. Swap two of your trees for one of your teammate’s, then plant it as if you were them. 🌲

🎲 𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘦, 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘯𝘦𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘳’𝘴 𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯. Only the player to your left benefits from your roll. Position matters!

🗺️ 𝘔𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘳𝘰𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘰 𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘸. 14 extra board tiles extend the playing area. 🌳💚

💜 𝗠𝘆 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗻 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲
I find this version much more balanced than the two-player game.

I love the semi-co-op vibe! 🤝 It’s non-violent area control: compete against the other team while helping your teammate’s forest flourish. 🌳💚

✨ 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗜’𝘃𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗮… 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻. 👀
What if we combined Deciduous Duos with the other expansions?

🏺 Ancient Artifacts
🌙 Majestic Marvels

A few tweaks might make them work with the four-player board, too!

I’d love to try this combination! 💚

🌲 𝗠𝘆 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗻 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗰𝘁
𝘋𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘥𝘶𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘋𝘶𝘰𝘴 gets a big thumbs-up! 👍 More teamwork and tactics make Aspens shine even brighter.

And those trees are still gorgeous. We do have standards. 😂🌳

Have you tried 𝘋𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘥𝘶𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘋𝘶𝘰𝘴? Would you combine the expansions?

Spiel day 3 🍂🤩

We were definitly still excited for day 3 🤭 (But we are getting tired 😝)

First thing we did, was play Aspens at @ludivoregames & we absolutely adore it! Such a clever game 🤩

We really wanted to discover hall 6 today and the first game we tried & loved there was Puffinova by @tie_games . It's cute, Dante even has a card with his name! I also got to color a little axolotl & the designer signed the box after our purchase. She's such a sweet person!

Around lunchtime, we got together with part of the Belgian-Dutch community where I got to check off some more people of the Bingo 🤩 (Still missing A LOT!)

Afterwards, back to hall 6 where we played 13 animals and Buffet Boss by @origame.co
We bought the second one because we had so much fun 😂 Go check them out if you're looking for some smaller games.

I was also very pleased we got to play a game with Jolien & Tim from @dobbeldates - Bag of bugs! (& If I'm not mistaken, they bought it 🤭)

@cosmoludogames is a publisher we visit every year and this year we tried (& yes, bought) their new title Kumata!

Back at hall 3, we played a game of Dice Pool Party, but Dante wasn't convinced (he lost 👀).

At the end, we got a short explanation about The Dawn of Pangaea and it was a no-brainer, we bought it. Such a pretty game 🥹

We ended the day at the airbnb with a game of Buffet Boss and Tap 4.

Time flies, but see you all tomorrow!
(For a small recap of the last day 🥲)

🌙 𝗔𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀 - 𝗠𝗮𝗷𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘀 🌙

Three expansions. Three different ways to shake up the forest. 🌲

While Ancient Artifacts and Wild Weathers add extra powers, Majestic Marvels introduces a different way to score. And that makes for a rather different kind of forest battle! 👀

🌙 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗷𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁?
You flip parts of the board to their night side. And I really like the look of that side! 💜 You can even use it with the base game.

Forget trying to fill every inch of the board. Here, it’s all about majorities in specific areas.

🌿 Gain majority. Score points immediately!

The point values are randomised, so every game offers different scoring opportunities. It also gives you direction: where do you want to focus your efforts?

🤝 𝗡𝗼𝗻-𝘃𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹
And that’s something I particularly like about Aspens. You’re competing for majorities, but you’re not kicking each other off the board. It’s a peaceful race for control of the forest. 🌲💚 Who says area control has to get rough?

⚡ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲?
This is the quickest version of Aspens I’ve played. Because you’re competing for majorities rather than building out the entire forest, the game can end with plenty of empty spaces still on the board.

And that’s a shame, because I’d happily spend a little longer among these trees!

💜 𝗠𝘆 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗻 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗰𝘁
I really like Majestic Marvels. And I also really enjoy Ancient Artifacts. 👑

But now I’ve got a wild idea…

💭 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝘄𝗼?
Keep the majority scoring in the individual areas, but add scoring for the majority across the entire forest, too.

Different areas. Different ways to score. I think that could add some extra depth to the game!

@ludivoregames just putting it out there… 👀 Who knows?

👇 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻
Do you prefer building towards a full board, or fighting for majorities?

🇺🇸 Aspens: Wild Weather
🌪️🌲 When the weather changes, even the strongest forest isn’t safe!

The peaceful forests of Aspens are facing some unexpected challenges! 🍃 With Aspens: Wild Weather, Ludivore Games adds a new layer of strategy to this beautiful two-player game.

In the base game, you’re growing your own forest, carefully deciding where to expand while managing your resources. But with Wild Weather, nature becomes a little more unpredictable! 🌿

At the beginning of the game, both players choose two weather effects to use during the game. A tornado can move trees around, a mudslide can disrupt your opponent’s territory, and a cold snap can freeze parts of the forest. ❄️

What makes these effects interesting is their timing. Sometimes it’s worth holding onto a weather ability for just the right moment, especially when a clever move could completely change the situation on the board.

Wild Weather brings more tactical possibilities and interaction between players, while keeping the lovely woodland atmosphere of Aspens. It’s an interesting expansion for those who already enjoy the base game and are looking for a little more variety and challenge. 💜

🎲 Visiting SPIEL Essen 2026 this weekend?

You can find Ludivore Games in Hall 3, booth 3H215! Discover Aspens and its expansions, including Wild Weather. Definitely worth a visit if you enjoy nature-themed games filled with thoughtful decisions! 🌸

🌳 𝗔𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀 | 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀
Two expansions. Two ways to power up your forest. 🌲

But which one gets 𝘮𝘺 𝘷𝘰𝘵𝘦?

🏺 𝗔𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘀

𝗥𝗮𝗰𝗲. Claim. Power up.

Be the first to reach an artifact and either enclose it or neighbour it with four trees to claim its character’s power.

I love this! 💚

Suddenly, you have another goal to chase, more tactical choices to make, and a reason to keep a close eye on your opponents.

Yes, the race can get intense. But that’s part of the fun!

🌦️ 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗪𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀

𝗟𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲. 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘆.
Choose your cards, work with your dice, and discover the powers at your disposal.

The vibe? More relaxed.

The impact? Potentially 𝘩𝘶𝘨𝘦. 😅

These powers can swing the game so much that it can suddenly be over. For me, they sometimes have a little too much influence on the outcome.

💭 𝗔 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗮…

Would a 𝘀𝗻𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗱𝗿𝗮𝗳𝘁 when choosing the Wild Weathers powers make things more balanced?

🌲 𝗠𝘆 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗻 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗰𝘁
Both expansions bring extra powers to the forest, but with a different vibe.

For me, 𝗔𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘀 takes the crown. 👑 The race adds tension and strategy, while the powers feel more balanced and don’t overpower the game.

In fact, I’d seriously consider making this part of the base game. 🌿

🎲 SPIEL Day 1 🎲

Day 1 is officially over, and what a fantastic start it has been! So much excitement, so many interesting titles, and plenty of wonderful people to meet along the way. 🥰

We managed to get a few demos in, although not quite as many as we originally planned. But hey, it’s SPIEL! Part of the fun is wandering the halls, stumbling across unexpected gems, and simply soaking in the atmosphere.😌

One title we were especially excited to try was Arcitca by @thiswayice . It had been on our radar for quite some time, and we’re happy to report it absolutely lived up to our expectations! The campaign is still live for a few more days, so definitely go check it out if you haven’t already.

And if you’ve been following us for a while, you’ll know we’re huge fans of Terrorscape. So when we spotted a demo table for Terrorscape II by @ice_makes , there was no way we were walking past it. We had a blast! The killer we played was inspired by the Predator and looked incredible. And yes... he won.😏

We also spent some time checking out a number of exciting upcoming releases, including Fluent Sea by @lionessgames, Robo Run by @portalgamespl , Elementica by @14games_jp , Zoo Tycoon: Dinosaur Digs by @treecer_atops , Highlands by @alleycatgames , Tideward by @avalonhillgames , and many more!

Of course, SPIEL is about more than just the games. One of our favourite parts is catching up with familiar faces, meeting the teams behind these projects, and connecting with fellow board game enthusiasts.❤️

We had some lovely chats with @pika_boardgames , @mazaza.games , @ludivoregames , @cavernwire and @devirgames , @maxine.metzger as well as fellow content creators such as @playboardgameswithus , @meeplemania_be , @boardgamepirate , @therainbowdice , and @tomb_tactics .

And this was only the first day! We’re excited to see what the rest of the convention has in store, probably more games.😋

🇬🇧🌳🍂 Need a little escape from the hustle and bustle? Aspens makes you feel like you’re surrounded by trees in the forest.

A wonderfully cosy game to settle down with and lose yourself in. Grab a cup of tea, keep a few treats within reach, and you’ve got everything you need for a lovely evening. ☕💚

We usually love a good chat, but this one makes us pause and enjoy the peace. Well… as much peace as you can expect from three Brabantse Spelletjes Mannen. 😂🌲
