Als Luis Bortt und die Brüder Maximilian und Leopold Schaefer nach Berlin zogen, stellten sie schnell fest, dass die Verbindungen zwischen Kunststudierenden und Gesellschaft ganz schön schwer zu knüpfen sind. Also gründeten sie 2020 kurzerhand ihre eigene Plattform KUNZTEN, um junge künstlerische Positionen bei Studiobesuchen zu entdecken und vorzustellen. Was als ein Online-Magazin begann, mündete schnell in eigenen, eklektischen Gruppenausstellungen. Ihre fünfte Schau unter dem Titel ECHOES in den Räumen des Berliner Flutgraben e.V. ist noch bis Sonntag zu sehen.

Our latest KUNZTEN show with the title ECHOES opened last Saturday! Thank you to all for coming and making this evening so so special 🤍🤍🤍

Thank you to all participating artists, it was all just wonderful working with you. Thank you Pola @guuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurl for the text and our exchange over the last months, I am so grateful for that. Thank you @moritz_haase for the great install views as always. And thank you @leopoldcasparschaefer for being the best curatorial partner I could ever imagine!!🫶

We are open until Sunday, 12. July. I‘ll also give a historical tour on Saturday 12 pm at Flutgraben and a curatorial tour at 2 pm. I am looking forward to our artist talk on Sunday, 12. July 5 pm with @neda.aydin , @rebekka.benzenberg and @jonashoeschl 🌟

We are pleased to announce continuations, an exhibition at Backyardarchive in Vienna. The exhibition brings together artists from Berlin,
Leipzig and Vienna. At Trautsongasse 6/7, one encounters an exhibition space that, with its herringbone parquet flooring and velvet
upholstery, evokes an environment of historical picture galleries, spaces for artistic presentation that were gradually superseded by the
modernist White Cube in the 20th century. In this setting, works are presented that engage with this spatial continuity by addressing art-
historical references.

COLD DAYS, SOFT GLOW brings together artists whose works balance between boundless depth, wintry melancholy, dreamy lightness, and vibrant energy.

As in the children’s book about Frederick the mouse, who gathers all the colours and warm impressions of the last days of autumn in order to prepare himself for the cold winter, these works capture the brilliance of colours and the glow of light beams. All five artists spark imagination and curiosity in their work. What appears from a distance to be a dreamscape reveals, on closer inspection, an abundance of intricate details, causing the image to continuously shift in our perception between infinite vastness and close-up intimacy. by @luisbortt

"Velvet fascinates me more than any other surface I’ve worked on: there is a certain mystery to the fabric pile that draws the eye toward it. Paint behaves strangely on velvet. Sometimes it sinks into its gaps, becoming part of its personal landscape. At other times, it sits on top, creating a sheen that mimics real light." Amrita Dhillon in @kunzten Artist Interview #33
