Every new chapter demands the same question: what do we actually stand for? There are things I keep returning to. In the wild, in the difficult seasons, in the quiet that follows the chaos. It took years of living to name them. Years of figuring out what truly guides me versus what I just thought I believed. This is what remains. taken in Austin, Texas by @lukeentrup

As a men’s coach, I help man navigate the challenges and intensity of a big breakup or divorce in order that they might find greater clarity and deeper love.

Sometimes I help men have a conversation with their partner that shifts the marriage back to a place of deep connection. Sometimes I help men establish greater harmony in their co-parenting relationship. Sometimes I help men move past their divorce in order that they might find epic love. Most often I become a trusted advisor during the most intense and transformative period of a man’s life.

I do this work because I believe a big breakup is a time in a man’s life that holds the possibility that he becomes a better version of ourselves.

If you are a man looking for support in finding clarity while navigating a big breakup or are stuck with not knowing how to get back out there after a divorce, send me a DM and we can create a plan for you. taken in Sonoma Coast by @lukeentrup

Twenty boys and men gathered this past weekend to mark the passage from young childhood to adolescence. The boys and their dads did deep soul work, connected with the natural world, learned about the path of the warrior, jumped into ice cold water, had a ceremony around the fire then danced and told stories under the stars, made new friends, played wildly, worked hard, faced their fears, and did difficult things together.

Today, we welcome them back from their Hero’s Journey. The future is brighter today.

For me personally, it is an astounding and powerful experience to have a dream become a manifest reality in such an exquisite way… especially when that dream required the work of so many other people. I am so blessed to do the work I do in helping people navigate transitions and rites of passage.

A huge thank you to our collaborators and staff on the completion of the first Father-Son Connection Experience.

The next event is 9/29-10/1 in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Link in bio.

We live in an age of infinite inputs.

Ask AI. Ask your therapist. Ask your coach. Ask the stars. Ask your friends. Ask your men’s group or women’s circle. Open your favorite sacred text.

Most people stop there. Maybe because we don’t know any better or we are afraid of our own sovereignty.

If you want an answer that actually belongs to you, there’s one more step. Find a rock. Find a tree. Sit on it. Stay until the clarity arrives or the next right action shows itself. Own your own destiny. taken in Austin, Texas by @lukeentrup

I’m just back from the wild with my twelve year old daughter, Amara. Her first backpacking trip.

We wandered into pristine alpine heaven along the Pacific Crest Trail in the Sierras, then made our way to the Disneyland of national parks, Yosemite, and cooled off in the fog covered Sonoma Coast.

We made memories. We learned lessons. This is what the trail taught us:

It is fun to be wild in the wild.

Sometimes the most beautiful places are hard to get to.

Be mindful of what you are carrying, because every ounce of weight is felt.

Sharing beauty and awe with someone we love makes it that much more meaningful.

Missing home makes home more special.

Smoke makes a sunset more colorful.

Cold water from snowmelt is delicious and refreshing.

We like hot mineral springs more than cold mountain streams. Both are nice.

It is okay to ask for help… or snuggles… especially when you are scared.

Snakes follow us, even to places where there shouldn’t be snakes.

Make friends with snakes.

It is amazing what a little time unplugged in the wild can do to reset a spirit, especially a young one just learning what it feels like to be truly wild and free. taken in Pacific Crest Trail by @lukeentrup

Life over the last month or three…

Disorienting confusion, sweet sadness, hard-earned clarity, tenderhearted love, gentle peace, reenergized power, natural joy, impulsive creativity, surging vitality… And so many more human experiences.

It’s a season of big changes, reemergence, and fresh visions. The hard stuff has a way of slingshotting the human spirit into deeper alignment.

Austin, Seattle, Santa Cruz, British Columbia and a few more.

Grateful for my people… my brothers and sisters who hold me when I need it. Thank you. by @lukeentrup

ODE TO MOVING WATER

To the rivers that carry more than we can see.
To the creeks that run close to the body.
To the streams that whisper instead of roar.

Moving water has been one of the greatest teachers of my life.

I grew up on the banks of the Mississippi River, watching something vast, steady, and always moving. I didn’t have language for it then, but I could feel it. It didn’t ask permission. It didn’t stop. It just kept going.

And over time, I realized life moves the same way.

Not just in the big, obvious ways, but in the small ones too.

The creeks.
The streams.
Cold water moving over stone.

The kind you step into and immediately feel in your body.

Rivers taught me scale.
Creeks taught me sensitivity.
Streams taught me how to listen.

In college, I would stand over moving water and ask myself a simple question:

Am I coming… or am I going?

Am I trying to take something from life, or am I letting something move through me?

That question has stayed with me.

Because I’ve seen what happens when I hold too much.
I get heavy.
Clouded.
Stuck.

And I’ve felt what happens when I let things move.
There’s clarity.
Energy.
Flow.

Some of my most meaningful moments haven’t been achievements, they’ve been sitting beside moving water.

With my brothers.
With my partner.
With my children.

Saying very little.
Just watching life move.

I remember arriving deep in the Amazon River jungle after hours by boat, and the man who greeted me… for a moment, I thought he was my uncle.

Not metaphorically. It felt real.

There was something in him, in the way he stood, the way he moved, that I recognized immediately.

It was the river.

And in that moment, I knew I am that too.

Over time, this moved from something I observed into something I felt.

Through practices like Qi Gong and Tai Chi, I started to feel how energy moves in the body, and then I moved beyond the forms.

I started watching the water more closely, and letting my body move like it.

The way a stream bends.
The way it gathers, then releases.

At some point, I stopped watching the water…
and I started becoming it.

And it keeps bringing me back to the same question:

Am I coming…

You say you want to lead.
To love with depth.
To live with purpose.

Then try this for 30 days:
* No p*rn — Reclaim your energy and bring it back into your relationships.
* No alcohol or herb — Let your nervous system fully reset.
* 20 minutes of stillness each morning — Meditate, breathe, listen.
* 30 minutes in nature daily — Walk, hike, move. Let the wild mirror you.
* One day a week a screen-free Sabbath — Step out of the matrix. Return to what’s real.
* Carry something heavy every day — A sandbag, a dumbbell, a child, your mission forward.
* Journal 1,000 words — Make sense of what’s moving inside.
* Speak one uncomfortable truth — In relationship, leadership, or life.
* Write 5 things you’re grateful for — Lead from the heart, not the wound.

This isn’t self-help.
It’s self-respect.
Start now.

Let’s go.

Therapy is NOT enough for men.

We need more than talk therapy to live a life of deep impact and epic love.

Men need a place to strengthen their bodies, minds, and spirits. We need our body-mind cracked open from the accumulated layers of being a man. We need the experience of training our nervous system towards deeper breaths and a more powerful presence. We need to be called out on our bullshit by other men who care enough about us to demand more than our superficial habits. We need to seen by other men as we reveal our deeper fears, doubts, and broken tender places. Men need support in clarifying why we are here and how we are going to execute on our biggest dreams.

Men need a dojo of practice. A community of passionate heart-centered brothers.

This is why I’ve launched me new Virtual Men’s Circle. This is a place for us to embodying ancient masculine wisdom in order to squeeze the most impact and depth out of our modern day lives.

Join us.

Twice a month for 90 minutes over zoom and in the company of kings.

Transition.
The Bardo.
Liminal Space.
The Neutral Zone.

These are the names we give to the experience of being in the middle of shifting from one way of being to another — the place between lifetimes. The time of leaving something old and not yet arriving at something new has uncommon potential for powerfully seeing our life with fresh perspective. When we are in between eras we get to decide who we next want to become.

For me, I’ve left my life in California and am journeying to a new life in Texas. The adventure stirs up hope and disorients the rhythms of comfort. It is sort of like being at the airport, not yet there, but no longer there. What a magical place for spacious reflection and adventure.

Changes to our lives become powerful transitions when we intend them to be more than simple adjustments to structure of our lives. Moving cities, leaving a job, leaving marriage, losing something or someone we love — These are times of reinvention, if we choose them to be.

It helps to find beautiful places along to way which to inspire our soul and guides to take us deeper than we can take ourselves. taken in White Sands National Monument Park by @lukeentrup

Certainty isn’t something to chase. It’s something to stop drowning out.

How do we find it with a mind that never stops talking?

I’ve come to discover that my body knows before my mind agrees. It speaks quietly, in the moment, and if I’m not still enough to catch it, it’s gone. But when I’m tuned it I have instant knowing about decisions, big and small.

Most of us are too loud to hear ourselves. Too full of noise, notifications, other people’s opinions, our own racing thoughts. So we mistake anxiety for intuition and confusion for a decision.

When the mind finally goes quiet, we start seeing what was there all along. The next step in our purpose that in hindsight was obvious. Openings in our work we were too busy to notice. Opportunities to discover deeper love when it was just under our nose the whole time.

For me, clarity comes from stripping away what’s loud and coming back to what’s alive.

Here’s what turns up my inner voice:

1️⃣ No phone for the first hour of the day. Silence before input.

2️⃣ A multi day backpacking trip or a long hike with no service. Days without a screen lets the noise finally drain out.

3️⃣ Spend time in water! Cold water on my face or a cold plunge or soak in a hot spring or take a long bath. It resets the energy body and nervous system.

4️⃣ Bare feet on the ground, even for five minutes. Imagine growing roots into the center of the earth.

5️⃣ “Sit down. Shut up. Wake up.” -JunPo. Sitting with a real question and waiting, not forcing an answer, until my body responds instead of my mind. This is the most important for me.

The answer is always there. We just have to get quiet enough to meet it. taken in Planet Earth by @lukeentrup
