New @abstractscience_fm podcast w/ LUNA SEES guest mix + new music from RADIUS, MILLIA, MAX COOPER, NERVOUS OPERATOR + MR FINGERS, hosted by CHRIS WIDMAN. Special guest LUNA SEES aka DJ LUNAR is one of the founders of the legendary Columbus, Ohio ele_mental collective, whose innovative approach to the 90s rave scene + electronic music served as an inspiration for ABSTRACT SCIENCE. Currently based out of Chicago, LUNA has returned to DJing after orbiting the local community as a dancer + connector. He begins the program with a mix of deep techno, electro + broken beat, closing out the first hour with a short ambient section. WIDMAN follows with a set of downtempo, house, IDM + dub.

ABSTRACT SCIENCE airs Thursdays 8-10pm usct on WLUW-Chicago 88.7FM

I've been invited to play a set of immersive sounds this Saturday at @charislisteningbar in Bridgeport, covering the gamut of possibilities in electronic music, leaning heavily into the deeper, more abstract side of things as I love to do. All on vinyl, in one of the coziest neighborhood listening bars in the city! This evening has been months in the making so I hope it will be one to remember...✨🌒✨ by @luna_sees

In a time of darkness, we must be the light. There is so much to be done to heal this broken world, but we cannot wait for them to give it to us. We must be the ones to make it, starting right now. And then again, and again, and again, through thick and thin, until we see that better world materialize before our eyes.

Let us embrace our destiny by making that world together—starting today. Do it by doing what you are already capable of doing now, which is to love the world more deeply, break bread with others, dance the night away, give your children a space to discover themselves, love your partners, elders, and ancestors, build things with your hands, listen to the wind, give grace and thanks to the creatures that fill our bellies, and allow yourself many moments of awe at the miracle of being alive.

Each of us has what I call a “spirit mission” which is to condense our energy and send it into the world in order to move us towards a better place. Some of us are lucky enough to have found our mission, which might be simply to raise a child or love a partner, or otherwise put beautiful things into the world, but for those of us who haven’t found our mission, find someone who who has and simply help them with theirs!

My own orientation has become about trying to live long enough to see the year 2122, a number that has been a great importance to my life. I will say more about that when that time is right, but for now I hope you find inspiration wherever you can, to do whatever you can with whatever materials you have in front of you right now.

And by “materials,” I mean not merely physical ones, but inner resources which we all have available, even when they are colored by trauma or the stress of everyday life. Let us begin to open up our process in order to share the resources that we have and recognize the resources that other people can share with us, while we share ours with them. That is how we step into a circle with each other to start to build the world we want to see. Let’s get to work everyone! by @luna_sees

A lot of interesting new records have been landing on my turntables lately (shout out to @gramaphonerecords, @tornlight, @signalrecordschicago, and @dustygroove for a lot of them!) so here I am putting myself out there to play for your events. Second slide gives you a 2-min preview of the ineffable energies I'm tapping into these days, leaning abstract/ambient but never too far from dance music. Lea Bertucci with "A Visible Length of Light" (from A Visible Length of Light, 2021) on the R; Brian Case with "No Immediate Threat" (from Spirit Design, 2017) on the R.
