New @abstractscience_fm podcast w/ LUNA SEES guest mix + new music from RADIUS, MILLIA, MAX COOPER, NERVOUS OPERATOR + MR FINGERS, hosted by CHRIS WIDMAN. Special guest LUNA SEES aka DJ LUNAR is one of the founders of the legendary Columbus, Ohio ele_mental collective, whose innovative approach to the 90s rave scene + electronic music served as an inspiration for ABSTRACT SCIENCE. Currently based out of Chicago, LUNA has returned to DJing after orbiting the local community as a dancer + connector. He begins the program with a mix of deep techno, electro + broken beat, closing out the first hour with a short ambient section. WIDMAN follows with a set of downtempo, house, IDM + dub.

ABSTRACT SCIENCE airs Thursdays 8-10pm usct on WLUW-Chicago 88.7FM

Friday, April 24th ᯓ★ Accessory • Angelica • Speedy Muffler • DJ Jolena

▪️▫️ $20 • 6:30pm • All Ages

Accessory exists as a space where Jason Balla, of Dehd, can explore wilder, more untamed musical frontiers. The project’s dense, shoegaze-y compositions center on the conflict between optimism and melancholy, holding the seemingly-infinite weight of both with equal perspective and grace.

Milwaukee art-punks Angelica and egg-punks Speedy Muffler provide local support. DJ Jolena brings vinyl, smiles, groove, and Milwaukee flair.

Out! ft. Luna Sees • Queen Méabh • Nekropump • irksometape

▪️▫️ $10 • 10:30pm • 18+

This party is going to expand your audio horizons!

Queen Méabh will start the night with a hot vinyl set. High energy club hits to kick things off!

Then Nekropump create raw, untethered electronic simulations.

To take us to the end of the evening also from Chicago is Luna Sees. Providing an eclectic vinyl mix full exploring our relationship between the body and motion.

Visuals brought to us by irksometape.

Well, @kennys_logins has opened the door for me to collaborate with him on a show this Thursday night hosted by our friendly fiends at the @californiaclipper. Believe it or not, this is my first show created from start to finish in 25 years. By no coincidence, I am picking up precisely where I left off: with an open-ended improvisatory proposition, inviting five special artists and a number of unannounced guests to come create a new universe together. The invitation is to all, but it is not an obligation. This will likely be the first of many iterations of this idea, in various configurations.

In a flawed world in which the powers that be have all but convinced us to disconnect even from ourselves, this is an invitation to build a temporary community in which to be fully oneself, while also discovering what else we can be.

I have chosen these five spirit guides, not only for their sonic, exploratory, embodied attitudes but also because of the different corners of the Chicago scene they represent. You will almost never hear or see these artists perform together in a completely open format: organic, entirely unplanned, incantatory.

My own DJing will set the tone, using many of the spirit discs which I have recently reacquired from Ohio. What will happen at the show very much depends on who shows up. Come as you are, stay who you are, but come with curiosity about what else is possible in this world.
