Learn how to make a quick & easy poster design!

It fills my hear with joy every time I see an ugly craft fair poster on facebook that was obviously made in microsoft word. Because it's not ai!

But. I also see these art show heroes making some mistakes that might cost them vendors or attendees. And they're easy to fix!

Good graphic design isn't about being super snazzy, it's about being able to communicate clearly with your audience. But when I look at some of these posters it can be hard to find all the information I would need, in order to attend the event. Sometimes it's just getting lost. Sometimes it isn't there at all.

Now - it doesn't ALL have to go on your graphic. And I'd encourage you to put MOST of your details in the post text. But, the info does need to be SOMEWHERE - because most people are not willing to do a small research project to find out where a whimsical craft show is going to be.

Now, if you'd like your graphics to be both clear AND snazzy, I'd really encourage you to support small businesses by hiring a graphic designer.

But I also understand budgets are finite. I panic when I see your $150 booth for a one day show. You panic when you think of a $150 bill for some social media posts. We all need things to be cheaper. You might consider an in-kind trade. Booth space for design services.

Even so, if you find yourself NEEDING a DIY event graphic - this is my go to formula for online posts that get read. And anyone can do it.

I'm planning a newsletter!

At this point, I think even the most terminally online people (like me!) are daydreaming about an exit from social media.

But that doesn't mean I want to give up on the internet all together. I just want to dial it back a bunch.

If you're interested in making sure you keep seeing my art whether one or both of us drops off insta - send me a dm with your email and I'll put you on the list!

Tragically, it is fall.

But at it opens up with apple season.
I do love apple season.

Playing around with softer edges - but apparently unable to leave behind the purple-yellow color combo. Not sure why that has such a grip on me lately, but it's definitely a thing!

What are your favorite colors right now? by @lunarfoxid

When I don't know what to draw, I start with something that made me happy.

I really loved going out for coffee & pastry with @karrah_noelle this weekend, so I drew my little pistachio spiral. It felt like it was missing something, so I added a reminder that, you deserve a little treat.

Celebrating summer by revisiting some older summer art before we all start talking about sweaters and pumpkins.

There's definitely a good stopping point if you read another five minutes.

This time.

What are you currently pretending you'll be able to put down if you just read a little farther?

I'm only a couple chapters in to "The Great Divide" and it's already a struggle to come back to reality 😬

I'm such a fan of sunglasses in fun shapes and colors.

Not on my face, I think they would be very irritating to wear, but on other people. Super cute.

I live in the wrong part of the world for sunshine - but it's finally here!

What are you excited to go do outside in the sun?

Doodle with me!

I'm working on a coloring sheet of mini illustrations from "The Secret Garden" by Francis Hodgson Burnett. One of my absolute favs as a kid.

And I thought I could do the chat and draw thing, but it turns out - I may be rubbish at it. So, sound off if you're not into rambling.

If you made it this far into the caption - let me know, when do you think "The Secret Garden" is set?

Definitely pre-1950s (published 1911) but is the setting even earlier than that? Let me know in the comments! by @lunarfoxid

A little update on my ring light purchase. I bought it to film myself sketching and I have filmed zero sketching sessions, because the holder was tearing up my phone's screen protector.

And now the algorithm has changed to carousels and there's not good protection for videos against slop-pro theft, so, we'll see,

I may try posting some with glazed pieces edited in, but I'm not sure if that will do anything for video.
