Brandon Lee brings history to life through his portrayal of #GowanPamphlet, the pioneering Baptist preacher who helped establish one of the earliest #AfricanAmerican Baptist congregations in #Virginia #VA. The African Meeting House, also known as 1st Baptist Church, est. 1776. It will be unveiled on Friday, October 9, 2026. Yep, 250 years. Brandon is honored to serve as an #artist interpreter and researcher of his remarkable story of faith, resilience, and community.

Brandon's connection to this history is deeply personal. He comes from a proud legacy of men whose lives have been rooted in the church and dedicated to service. His family heritage includes Baptist leaders, ministers, architects, and engineers, reflecting generations committed to faith, leadership, education, and the building of communities.

This legacy has instilled in him a profound appreciation for history and the enduring impact of those who came before.

Through his portrayal of Gowan Pamphlet, Brandon seeks to honor the courage, vision, and spiritual leadership of the men and women who helped establish a lasting foundation for worship and fellowship in Williamsburg. He is proud to help share their story and preserve this important chapter of American history for future generations.

"History is not only about remembering the past; it is about carrying forward the legacy of those whose faith, perseverance, and sacrifice shaped the future."

To the many people I saw who knew me before I knew myself, and those who helped raise me, it was invaluable. My heart, mind, and soul was touched.

We are all fighting for a cause. History proves it is better if we are together. Positive or negative, one will be had.

I am just inviting you to consider the idea that our people were here in #Virginia prior to the 1600s, and while a 1607 touchdown by the English is cool, so were the Spanish before them. I am Kiskiack; we were here before. There were many Indigenous people before us and many Africans as well.

If starting with the #DeclarationofIdependece and the Virginia Statute for #ReligiousFreedom (1776–1786), etc., and moving on to the next. I am here to make things right. A more perfect union was a great statement, and I can think of many Indigenous statements like it.

We are here, and we have resurrected a marker that we should absolutely tap into and be proud of.

Many people went to homecomings this weekend. I think, yes, those are the same family members who have established many communities, but this one is different. It was THE homecoming, and if you do not like that idea, then welp, continuation.

I appreciate the whole movement over the weekend
What an incredible day of history, heritage, and community!

What a blessing to participate in the historic rededication of the African Baptist Meeting House in #Williamsburg, VA, celebrating VA25O years of faith, resilience, and legacy!

I had the honor of opening the ceremony with a traditional Libation Tribute, remembering and honoring the ancestors

Here is just a snippet of the hard work and dedication he and the STEMpreneur Team put in. He and his collab facilitator Angelika were excellent. We could not have asked for better #teacher #mentors from #AfricanAmerican #Teaching Fellows @aatfnews and Student interns. Thanks for a great summer.
