Maijishan Grottoes in Gansu, China. 🇨🇳
There are 194 caves with more than 7200 statues sculpted right into a 142-meter-tall vertical mountain.
This precarious cliffside engineering began around 384 AD 🫣
Impressive. And the attached walking construction you see now was made for visitors not long time ago. Imagine people carving the vertical mountain with no ladder or any other modern equipment.
So, next time someone tells you that such and such project is difficult - show him Maijishan Grottoes.

Xi’an is one of the world’s oldest capitals and the starting point of the ancient Silk Road. This cradle of Chinese civilization holds a truly spectacular site: the Terracotta Army, buried to protect the first emperor, Qin Shi Huang, in the afterlife.
It’s a breathtaking place, and I highly recommend adding Xi’an to your travel itinerary. The city walls, the Muslim Quarter, and the Xi’an Mosque (yes, a mosque!) are absolute must-sees.

US: me & Rus.
This morning, I woke up realizing how powerful we are. Back in 2019, after our first date, Rus jokingly said, “Let’s write in our bio: ‘Powerful couple exploring the world.’” I laughed—we weren’t even a couple yet! But there’s a saying, “Як корабель назвеш, так він і попливе” (“Name your ship well, and it will sail true”), meaning the name you give something can shape its destiny. That bold label became our truth. Six years later, we’ve explored over 180 countries, taken hundreds of thousands of photos, and created countless memories.

Afghanistan is a man’s world.

It is a tourism-friendly country (believe it or not), but is it woman‘s friendly? It is a man‘s world.

When Taliban took over the power in 2021, women‘s rights drastically curtailed.

-Freedom of movement…Women under 40 are not allowed to leave home without a male guardian, except of a short walk to the nearest grocery or kindergarten. Strict dress code should be followed (full veil).

-Women lost their right to get education. Girls are allowed to study until 6th grade only. Their chances of later studying or finding a good job then disappear. University became a dream.

-Working opportunities are very limited. Many women lost their jobs. If the job can be performed at home - that may still be an option. Female doctors are not allowed to treat males or work with males, female judges and lawyers have mostly been excluded from their work. Journalism or UN sector are also prohibited for woman.

-Any violence against women remains unpunished with no legal protection or consequences for perpetrators for sexual or other form of violence.

-Girls are forced in early marriages in Afghanistan. Girls aged between 13-17 years old are forced into marriage, by the age of 20-25 years old many have 3-5 kids already. Many of those girls are likely illiterate, unable to write or read.

-Social media, internet or movies are men’s privilege too…well, there are women who use social media or watch movies at home, but they are at risk being declassified and punished…

This is a man’s world…
