Photo sessions are usually something I dread and just try to “get through” as quickly as possible but every session we’ve had with @togetherphotosatl has actually been SO enjoyable. Not only did they manage to get our crazy household of 9 to take some epic photos, they even captured some candid moments that, honestly, are my favorites. All the in-between moments: Dassa running around with Zuri, Zion being unable to contain his laughter, Zuri climbing all over Zion, (and even navigating a difficult moment together with Maia 🤫) feel like a window into real life with our family.

If you’ve been putting off family photos because you dread the process, I can’t recommend them enough. They have booking links in their bio (@togetherphotosatl).

They do have a 20 minute mini-session open TOMORROW 11/1 at 3:55pm if you want to get those last-minute fall family photos. by @lydiajyoon

Endurance is the name of the game but not without wisdom and obedience to the call to first throw off the unnecessary weight and sins that hold us down. And by sin, I’m not talking about your track record as much as your mindset - what you really believe about God, yourself, and others.

But thanks be to Jesus, our Author and Perfecter, the Good Shepherd of our souls!! If you’ve growing weary, instead of trying your best, try listening and leaning into Him.

Stay humble. Stay needy. Stay child-like.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.”

40!! I’m a day late but you’re worth celebrating every day ;) I chose a picture for every decade of your life and it made me emotional remembering all the seasons and stories I get the privilege of holding. We’ve been together for 23 years now and I’ve witnessed your faithfulness, diligence, wisdom, resilience, and sacrifice unto the Lord and those around you. I am deeply grateful to be your partner in life and can’t wait to see what this next decade has in store for you 🌾

Love you without wax. Happy birthday mi torta 🎂❤️@thejohnyoon by @lydiajyoon

The number of times I’ve watched this video🥹✨ I feel such deep joy and satisfaction in watching my children laugh and have a good time. It makes me wonder if we’ve overcomplicated things when it comes to pleasing God.

Maybe He just enjoys hearing us laugh and watching us play because He’s a good father.
Maybe the kind of faith that pleases Him is simply trusting His intentions towards us.
Maybe He loves us beyond anything we can do for Him and that’s where rest begins.

This is your reminder to live, love, and laugh because it makes our Father in heaven happy 🙂

Our family is taking our first pastoral sabbatical this month since @patria.house has been planted and some years of ministry before that😅 It’s embedded in our culture (especially in the Korean Church) to value productivity, diligence, and sacrifice which are beautiful and godly things. But rest, fun, and connection are just as godly and vital to the design for God’s family✨

It’s already been such a gift to slow down and enjoy God and one another. Our hope for this time is to have a ton of fun but also to intentionally connect with God, ourselves, and others. To make space for God to build the vision in us as He continues to work through us. To freely receive that we may freely give.

Would you pray with us for:
🤍 Travel mercies to and from California for our family of seven!
🤍 Health, rest, and deep joy for everyone
🤍 Addy and Dassa as they attend @godsimage camp—that they would encounter Jesus in fresh ways and build life-giving friendships
🤍 Refreshment and encouragement through our denominational pastors’ conference
🤍 Young Adult Retreat (retreat for lay leaders serving various Korean churches in LA - this was scheduled before our sabbatical month but we trust in God’s timing!)
🤍 For God to continue to materialize the vision of complete connection in and through our lives during this sabbatical

If the Lord places it on your heart, we’d also love to invite you to partner with us financially. Sabbaticals are an investment in the long-term health of ministry families, and any gift—large or small—helps make this season of rest, renewal, travel, and connection possible. (Venmo: @lydiayoonmusic)

More than anything, thank you for praying for us. It’s actually been hard to stay away from church bc we love being with our people sm but we already the see the fruit of trusting the Lord and our community. Thank you for believing in us, praying for us, and walking with our family on this journey❤️ by @lydiajyoon

Blessed beyond words for these fathers in my life that lay down their lives that their children and their children’s children might live. @thejohnyoon preached on “Entrusted Faith” for third week into Legacy Month @patria.house — the kind that shares what we have first received. Thank you Appas for showing us the love of our Father in heaven. We love and honor you 💙 by @lydiajyoon

15 years of marriage. 22 years of relationship.

We’ve experienced so many versions of each other in that time but this current one outweighs them all so I picked the most recent pictures of us because I’m in love with us and what God has done 😍

I’m so so grateful He didn’t allow us to build anything that was not tried and tested in our marriage first. We’re living in the promise and we’re just getting started. GLORY TO GLORY BABAY ❤️‍🔥 @thejohnyoon !!! by @lydiajyoon

Which ones do you relate to the most? 🥲

When your trauma shows up as strength, it’s hard to identify let alone heal.

But my testimony is El Roi - the God who saw right through me, drew near, and let me run out of my own strength until I collapsed into His arms. This was my end and beginning.

While others may assume, rely, neglect, and even abuse your strengths,
He sees you
And knows you
And longs to carry you.

Share this with someone you admire for their strength while praying for their rest and healing. You are not alone. ❤️‍🩹 by @lydiajyoon

This is obviously a highlight reel 😅
What it doesn’t show is the yeeeeears of work it took for @thejohnyoon and I to course correct, realize our vision and values, and establish rhythms that reflect those values.

We are a continual work in progress and there will always be more work to be done relationally, spiritually, and practically but what is beautiful and freeing about this vision of complete connection is that it’s not ours, it’s His. That means the pressure is off and the best and only thing we can do is yield. Yield to His hand, His way, His timing.

Praying Psalm 127 over families (especially ministry families) today — that fathers would labor with their hands in the Father’s, that mothers would pray from faith over fear, that every child would be regarded and raised as the heritage, fruit, reward, and weapon that they are and ultimately, that the Lord would be the one to build His house 🙏 by @lydiajyoon

Anybody else’s turn of the year not looking like what you had in mind? 🙋🏻‍♀️

Our house has been fighting the flu for the last two weeks and we are juuuust coming out of it and getting back into rhythm.

Sharing with you some truths I’m meditating on as I get back into stride:

1. Fruit comes from abiding, not striving
John 15:5 - I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
Psalm 127:1 - Unless the Lord builds the house, those who builds it labor in vain.

2. God’s definition of success may look very different from yours. Ask before you assume.
Proverbs 3:5-6 - Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

3. Your race, your pace — this should be both comforting and challenging. Squash comparison and own your lane and season.
Hebrews 12:1 - Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,

4. Walk at the pace of obedience — “one foot in front of the other”
Psalm 119:105 - Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
Galatians 5:25 - If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.

5. Walk at the pace of relationship — connection > mission, connection = mission
Ephesians 4:1-3 - “… walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”

Whether you’re crushing your New Year’s resolutions or getting a late start, thank God for fresh mercies daily and all that He has for us in 2026 🥂

Jesus, You’re worthy. by @lydiajyoon

This song came to me one day when I was feeling overwhelmed as a mom of two and felt even more overwhelmed at the thought of other moms who have it way worse than I do.

I asked the Lord, “What can I do?” And He asked me, “What’s in your hand?” I was sitting by my keyboard and it happened to be the first time my baby and toddler fell asleep for a nap at the same time.

I was able to write and record two verses, a chorus, bridge, and outro effortlessly while my kids stayed sleeping for 3.5 hours straight without interruptions (this never happened again in my life 😆).

So this song is for you dear mama and daughter of God — He knows your needs even more than the way you know every sound your baby makes. He knows you want to keep giving but you’re running on empty. He is compassionate and merciful toward you. Lean into His chest and drink deep of His love today. He is everything you need. ❤️

Tag or send this encouragement to a mama who needs it 🙏
